Mumbai, August 4: Gold prices turned lower in Mumbai on Tuesday, ending the brief pause seen over the last two sessions. The decline wasn’t steep, but it was enough to pull prices below Monday’s levels across all major purity categories.
As per today’s rates, 24K gold is priced at ₹14,400 per gram, 22K gold at ₹13,200, while 18K gold is retailing at ₹10,800 per gram.

Gold Gives Up Some Recent Gains
After staying unchanged for two consecutive sessions, gold prices softened on Tuesday. The correction follows last week’s recovery and suggests that traders are booking profits as global bullion prices remain volatile. Even after today’s decline, prices are still above the levels seen towards the end of July.
Investors who want exposure to gold without purchasing physical jewellery can consider Gold ETFs, which track domestic gold prices while eliminating concerns around storage, purity and making charges.

The past 10 sessions have seen gold swing in both directions instead of following a clear trend. Last week’s recovery helped prices climb back from their July lows, but today’s decline shows the rally has lost some momentum. For now, gold appears to be moving within a relatively narrow range as the market looks for fresh triggers.
What Drives Gold Prices?
Domestic gold prices are influenced by international bullion rates, the rupee’s movement against the US dollar, central bank policy decisions, import duties and local demand. Global economic data and geopolitical developments can also have an immediate impact on retail gold prices in India.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Mumbai slipped on August 4, with 24K gold falling to ₹14,400 per gram, 22K to ₹13,200, and 18K to ₹10,800. While today’s decline erased part of the recent gains, the broader trend remains range-bound. Buyers and investors will be watching global bullion prices and currency movements closely for the market’s next direction.
