Gold prices in Mumbai edged lower on July 24 after a strong run earlier in the week. The 24K gold rate slipped by ₹1 to ₹14,617 per gram, while 22K gold eased to ₹13,399 per gram. Despite the latest dip, prices remain considerably higher than levels seen in mid-July.

Mumbai, July 24: Gold prices in Mumbai edged lower on Friday, extending the modest pullback seen after this week’s sharp rally. The decline, however, was limited to just ₹1 per gram across major purity categories, leaving prices close to their recent highs.
The 24-karat gold rate stood at ₹14,617 per gram, down ₹1 from the previous day. The 22-karat rate also slipped by ₹1 to ₹13,399 per gram, while 18-karat gold eased to ₹10,963 per gram.
Friday’s movement is small compared with the swings seen earlier this week. Gold surged on July 22 before giving up some of those gains over the next two sessions. Even after the pullback, 24K gold remains ₹195 per gram above its July 21 level.

Gold Prices Take a Breather After Sharp Rally
The past few sessions have been anything but quiet for gold buyers in Mumbai.
After trading at ₹14,422 per gram on July 21, 24K gold jumped ₹229 the following day to ₹14,651. The 22K rate saw a similar move, climbing ₹210 to ₹13,430 per gram.
Some of that momentum faded on July 23, when 24K gold dropped ₹33 and 22K gold fell ₹30. Friday brought another decline, but at just ₹1 per gram, the move was barely noticeable.
For buyers who were waiting for a meaningful correction after Wednesday’s jump, the latest decline offers little relief. Gold continues to trade well above the levels seen in the middle of the month.

What Would 10 Grams of 22K Jewellery Cost Today?
The per-gram gold rate is only the starting point when buying jewellery. Making charges and GST are added to the value of the metal, which can push the final bill noticeably higher.
At today’s 22K rate of ₹13,399 per gram, 10 grams of gold carries a base value of ₹1,33,990. Assuming making charges of 12% and GST of 3%, the estimated bill works out as follows:
| Component | Amount |
| Gold value | ₹1,33,990 |
| Making charges (12%) | ₹16,079 |
| GST (3%) | ₹4,502 |
| Estimated final amount | ₹1,54,571 |
This is an indicative calculation. Actual jewellery prices depend on the design, jeweller, making charges, wastage and other applicable costs.
10-Day Gold Price Trend
- July 24: ₹14,617 (-₹1)
- July 23: ₹14,618 (-₹33)
- July 22: ₹14,651 (+₹229)
- July 21: ₹14,422 (+₹76)
- July 20: ₹14,346 (+₹17)
- July 19: ₹14,329 (No change)
- July 18: ₹14,329 (+₹76)
- July 17: ₹14,253 (-₹76)
- July 16: ₹14,329 (-₹28)
- July 15: ₹14,357 (+₹77)
The 10-day trend tells a clearer story than Friday’s ₹1 decline alone. Gold fell to ₹14,253 per gram on July 17, the lowest level during this period, before staging a quick recovery.
The rebound gathered pace over the next few sessions and culminated in the ₹229 surge on July 22. Since hitting ₹14,651 that day, 24K gold has given back only ₹34 per gram.
That leaves prices much closer to the recent high than the mid-July low.
Recent Gold Price Performance
| Particulars | 24K Gold | 22K Gold |
| July 15 Price | ₹14,357 | ₹13,160 |
| July 24 Price | ₹14,617 | ₹13,399 |
| 10-Day High | ₹14,651 (July 22) | ₹13,430 (July 22) |
| 10-Day Low | ₹14,253 (July 17) | ₹13,065 (July 17) |
| Change since July 15 | +₹260 | +₹239 |
Despite two straight sessions of declines, gold has gained substantially over the period. Compared with July 15, 24K gold is ₹260 per gram higher, while 22K gold has risen ₹239.
For someone buying 10 grams of 22K gold, the base metal value alone is now about ₹2,390 higher than it was on July 15. That difference grows further once making charges and taxes are added.
Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Gold rates in Mumbai don’t move solely on local jewellery demand. Domestic prices also respond to changes in international bullion markets and the value of the rupee against the US dollar.
Interest-rate expectations, inflation data, geopolitical uncertainty and central bank activity can influence global gold prices. Since India depends heavily on imports to meet its gold demand, movements in international prices and currency markets can quickly filter through to local retail rates.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Mumbai slipped marginally on July 24, with 24K gold at ₹14,617 per gram, 22K gold at ₹13,399 and 18K gold at ₹10,963. The ₹1 decline across categories is minor compared with the sharp moves recorded earlier in the week.
The bigger picture remains firm. Despite falling for two consecutive sessions, 24K gold is still ₹260 per gram above its July 15 level and only ₹34 below the 10-day high reached on July 22. Buyers waiting for prices to cool significantly after this week’s rally have yet to see that correction materialise.
