Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Gold rates in Mumbai are influenced by international bullion prices, movements in the rupee against the US dollar and the cost of importing gold into India. That means local prices can move even when jewellery demand in the city itself has not changed significantly.
Interest-rate expectations, inflation, central bank buying and geopolitical developments can also affect bullion prices. The sharp swings seen over the past week are a reminder that these factors can move gold quickly in either direction.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Mumbai were largely steady on July 28, with 24K gold edging up ₹1 to ₹14,587 per gram. The 22K rate increased to ₹13,371, while 18K gold moved to ₹10,940 per gram.
Tuesday’s muted move follows Monday’s stronger advance and suggests the recent recovery has slowed for the moment. Still, 24K gold has regained most of the ground lost during the July 24 selloff and is now just ₹64 below its 10-day high.
