Gold prices in Mumbai were largely unchanged on July 30, with bullion rates edging lower by just ₹1 across all major purity categories. The muted movement comes after two sessions of declines, suggesting the market is taking a breather following last week’s sharp swings.

Mumbai, July 30: Gold prices in Mumbai were almost unchanged on Thursday, with bullion rates slipping by just ₹1 per gram across major purity categories. After a volatile few sessions, the market appears to be stabilising, with price movements narrowing considerably.
According to the latest retail rates, 24-karat gold is priced at ₹14,350 per gram, down ₹1 from Wednesday. 22-karat gold has eased to ₹13,154 per gram, while 18-karat gold is available at ₹10,762 per gram, also lower by ₹1.
The marginal decline follows two sessions of sharper losses that pulled gold away from last week’s highs. Today’s movement suggests the selling pressure has eased, although prices remain well below the recent peak.

Gold Market Takes a Breather
Gold prices rallied strongly during the third week of July before peaking at ₹14,651 per gram on July 22. That momentum faded quickly as profit booking set in, triggering a sharp correction over the following sessions.
With Thursday’s ₹1 decline, the market has now settled after several days of volatility. Even so, the 24K rate remains roughly ₹301 below last week’s high, showing that much of the earlier rally has been erased.

Why Do Gold Prices Change Every Day?
Gold prices are influenced by a range of domestic and global factors. International bullion prices, fluctuations in the rupee against the U.S. dollar, import costs and inflation expectations all contribute to daily changes in retail rates.
Market sentiment is also affected by interest-rate expectations, central bank buying, geopolitical developments and investor demand for safe-haven assets. Local taxes and jeweller-specific making charges then determine the final amount consumers pay.
Conclusion
Gold prices in Mumbai remained largely steady on July 30, with 24K gold slipping by just ₹1 to ₹14,350 per gram and 22K gold easing to ₹13,154 per gram. The muted movement suggests that the market is stabilising after several volatile sessions.
While bullion remains well below last week’s high, the slowdown in price declines may encourage buyers waiting for more stable levels. Investors, meanwhile, are likely to continue tracking global bullion trends and currency movements for the market’s next cue.
