Gold has been supported by international market factors, including a softer US dollar and changing expectations around US interest rates. Reuters reported that spot gold rose on August 17 as weaker economic data reduced expectations of an imminent Federal Reserve rate hike. (Reuters)
Domestic gold prices can also be affected by the rupee-dollar exchange rate, international bullion prices, import costs and local jewellery demand. Retail jewellery prices may differ from quoted gold rates because of making charges and other costs.
