Gold rates reversed their previous session’s decline and rose for the first time in two sessions on Thursday. They continue to track a combination of global rate movements, rupee-dollar fluctuation and safe-haven demand stemming from the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. Physical demand at jewellery shops has remained robust through the week helped by the wedding season, despite prices ruling near record levels.

“Fresh triggers from the US Fed on interest rates movement, dollar index and geo-political tensions between Iran and US will be key to watch out for in the next few sessions for a directional move in gold prices. Import duty rates and demand-supply dynamics at home will also be watched closely by dealers,” said a bullion analyst.
