Mumbai, June 10: Gold prices in India remained broadly steady on Wednesday, registering a marginal uptick from Tuesday’s levels as the precious metal continued to consolidate near multi-week highs amid a mix of easing geopolitical tensions and residual safe-haven demand.
National Price
The national price of 24-karat gold (99.9% purity) edged up to ₹1,53,170 per 10 grams on Wednesday, a gain of ₹10 from Tuesday’s ₹1,53,160. The 22-karat rate (91.6% purity) inched up similarly to ₹1,40,410 per 10 grams, rising ₹10 from Tuesday’s ₹1,40,400. The 18-karat price (75% purity) also added ₹10 to settle at ₹1,14,880 per 10 grams, compared with ₹1,14,870 on Tuesday.
On a per-gram basis, 24K gold now stands at ₹15,317, 22K at ₹14,041, and 18K at ₹11,488. The near-flat movement on Wednesday follows Tuesday’s modest ₹440 recovery in 24K gold, which in turn had partially clawed back Monday’s sharp ₹3,380 single-session correction — the steepest single-day fall in several weeks. Wednesday’s price action suggests gold is in a consolidation phase, digesting the recent macro shocks rather than making a decisive directional move.
City-Wise Gold Rates: Southern and Western India
Chennai retained its position as the priciest gold market among major Indian cities on Wednesday, with 24-karat gold quoted at ₹1,55,240 per 10 grams, 22-karat at ₹1,42,300, and 18-karat at ₹1,18,700, reflecting gains of ₹320 and ₹290 in the 24K and 22K categories respectively from Tuesday’s city-level rates, while the 18K rate eased by ₹510, likely reflecting a localised pricing adjustment in the lower-purity segment.

Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kerala, and Pune were uniformly priced at ₹1,54,420 for 24-karat, ₹1,41,550 for 22-karat, and ₹1,15,820 for 18-karat gold per 10 grams — each rising by ₹1,250, ₹1,140, and ₹940 respectively from Tuesday’s readings — reflecting a standardised pricing environment across these major metropolitan markets. Pune tracked identically to Mumbai and Kolkata, underscoring the consistent benchmark-linked pricing that characterises the western and eastern hubs.
City-Wise Gold Rates: Northern and Western India
New Delhi quoted 24-karat gold at ₹1,54,570 per 10 grams, 22-karat at ₹1,41,700, and 18-karat at ₹1,15,870 on Wednesday — gains of ₹1,250, ₹1,140, and ₹840 respectively over Tuesday — consistent with the capital’s customary slight premium above the national benchmark, driven by robust institutional and retail demand in the north Indian jewellery market.

Vadodara and Ahmedabad were identically pegged at ₹1,54,470 for 24-karat, ₹1,41,600 for 22-karat, and ₹1,15,870 for 18-karat gold per 10 grams, each rising ₹1,250, ₹1,140, and ₹940 from Tuesday’s city rates, tracking closely with the broader national benchmark as the two Gujarat cities typically do. Across all cities, Wednesday’s uniform uptick confirms the move is macro-driven, with gold drawing support from a steady dollar index and subdued US Treasury yields as the US-Iran-Israel tensions begin to surge.
