Mumbai, June 16: Gold prices in India held firm on Tuesday, consolidating just above the historic levels reached in Monday’s dramatic rally. The national rate for 10 grams of 24 karat gold (99.9% purity) stands at ₹1,51,540, a marginal gain of ₹10 from Monday’s ₹1,51,530. The 10-gram rate for 22 karat gold (91.6% purity) is ₹1,38,910, up ₹10 from Monday’s ₹1,38,900, while 18 karat gold (75% purity) trades at ₹1,13,660 per 10 grams, again ₹10 higher than Monday’s ₹1,13,650.

Tuesday’s near-flat movement follows Monday’s explosive ₹5,900 jump in 24K gold per 10 grams — itself triggered by the confirmation of the US-Iran peace framework — and suggests the market is pausing to digest that rally rather than reversing it. The dollar remains weak, rate-cut expectations from the Federal Reserve and the RBI continue to firm up, and crude’s retreat is sustaining the broader macro backdrop that drove Monday’s surge. Gold is not retreating; it is simply breathing.

Across India’s major cities, Tuesday’s pricing reflects the same structure that has defined domestic bullion markets through June. Chennai continues to command the highest rates in the country, with 10 grams of 24 karat gold at ₹1,53,500, 22 karat at ₹1,40,710, and 18 karat at ₹1,18,010 — a premium driven by the city’s jewellery fabrication demand and local tax structure.

Delhi trades marginally above the national base at ₹1,51,690 for 24 karat per 10 grams, ₹1,39,060 for 22 karat, and ₹1,13,810 for 18 karat, while Vadodara and Ahmedabad carry a slim ₹50 premium at ₹1,51,590 for 24 karat per 10 grams. Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune all trade uniformly at the national base rate — ₹1,51,540 for 24 karat, ₹1,38,910 for 22 karat, and ₹1,13,660 for 18 karat per 10 grams. All rates are indicative; actual transaction prices will vary by jeweller, with making charges, GST at 3% and applicable TCS applied separately.
