Mumbai, June 18: Gold prices in India eased further on Thursday, extending the mild pullback seen since Tuesday as the metal’s record-breaking rally continues to consolidate for a third consecutive session. The national rate for 10 grams of 24 karat gold (99.9% purity) stands at ₹1,51,100, down ₹260 from Wednesday’s ₹1,51,360. The 10-gram rate for 22 karat gold (91.6% purity) is ₹1,38,500, lower by ₹240 from Wednesday’s ₹1,38,740, while 18 karat gold (75% purity) trades at ₹1,13,320 per 10 grams, down ₹200 from Wednesday’s ₹1,13,520.

Thursday’s softer print continues the gradual unwinding that began after Monday’s explosive ₹5,900 surge, with the metal now down for three sessions running, even as the broader uptrend from earlier in the week remains largely intact. Gold has over the years served as a dependable hedge against inflation, and that long-term appeal continues to draw investor interest even through short-term corrections of this kind.

The dollar’s recent weakness and expectations of rate cuts from the Federal Reserve and the RBI remain supportive of sentiment, though profit-booking at elevated levels appears to be weighing on prices in the near term. Traders will continue watching the outcome of the FOMC meeting and any fresh developments on the Iran peace framework for the next directional cue.

Across India’s major cities, Thursday’s pricing continues to reflect the familiar regional structure seen through the week. Chennai remains the most expensive market in the country, with 10 grams of 24 karat gold priced at ₹1,53,380, 22 karat at ₹1,40,600, and 18 karat at ₹1,17,700 — a premium that persists due to the city’s strong jewellery fabrication demand and local tax structure. Delhi trades a shade above the national base at ₹1,51,250 for 24 karat per 10 grams, ₹1,38,650 for 22 karat, and ₹1,13,470 for 18 karat, while Vadodara and Ahmedabad continue to carry a slim ₹50 premium at ₹1,51,150 for 24 karat per 10 grams.

Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune all trade uniformly at the national base rate on Thursday — ₹1,51,100 for 24 karat, ₹1,38,500 for 22 karat, and ₹1,13,320 for 18 karat per 10 grams — continuing the pattern of price parity across these six major markets that has held through the week. All rates remain indicative; actual transaction prices at jewellers will vary based on making charges, GST at 3%, and applicable TCS, which are levied separately over and above the quoted metal rate.
