Mumbai, June 22: Gold prices edged modestly higher on Monday, clawing back a sliver of the sharp losses inflicted on Friday when news of the US-Iran ceasefire signing triggered one of the steepest single-day sell-offs in recent weeks. The national rate for 10 grams of 24 karat gold (99.9% purity) rose ₹210 to ₹1,46,070, recovering a fraction of Friday’s ₹5,240 plunge. The 10-gram rate for 22 karat gold (91.6% purity) climbed ₹190 to ₹1,33,890, while 18 karat gold (75% purity) added ₹160 to ₹1,09,550 per 10 grams. The mild bounce suggests some bargain buying returned after Friday’s rout, though sentiment remains cautious with the Iran ceasefire holding and the US Federal Reserve’s hawkish signals still fresh.
City-wise, Chennai continued to command the highest premium among India’s major markets. The 10-gram rate for 24 karat gold in Chennai rose ₹320 from Friday to ₹1,48,360, with 22 karat at ₹1,35,990 and 18 karat at ₹1,13,690. Delhi gold prices firmed up to ₹1,46,220 for 24 karat, ₹1,34,040 for 22 karat and ₹1,09,700 for 18 karat per 10 grams, each rising ₹210 from the previous close.
