Mumbai, June 3: Gold prices in India were virtually unchanged on Wednesday, with the national price of 24-karat gold (99.9% purity) easing by a token ₹10 to ₹1,56,210 per 10 grams from Tuesday’s ₹1,56,220. The 22-karat rate (91.6% purity) also slipped ₹10 to ₹1,43,190 per 10 grams from Tuesday’s ₹1,43,200, and the 18-karat price (75% purity) edged marginally lower to ₹1,17,160 per 10 grams from Tuesday’s ₹1,17,170. On a per-gram basis, 24K gold now stands at ₹15,621, 22K at ₹14,319 and 18K at ₹11,716 a near-negligible ₹1 per gram decline across all three karats.

Wednesday’s fractional move marks the third consecutive session in which gold has refused to break decisively in either direction, consolidating in an unusually tight range as the market weighs competing forces. The renewed US military strikes on Iranian radar and drone sites over the weekend, followed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claiming to have struck a US base in Kuwait and Tehran’s foreign ministry publicly accusing Washington of issuing contradictory demands, have kept a floor under safe-haven gold demand. At the same time, the possibility of an eventual ceasefire extension deal with Trump saying talks were continuing and a deal could come within a week has prevented any meaningful fresh buying at current elevated levels. The result is a metal in a holding pattern, consolidating quietly after shedding ₹2,080 per 10 grams in 24K over the five sessions preceding this three-session pause.

City-Wise Gold Rates: Southern and Western India

Chennai retained its position as India’s most expensive gold market on Wednesday, quoting 24-karat gold at ₹1,58,170 per 10 grams, 22-karat at ₹1,44,990 and 18-karat at ₹1,21,790 each down a token ₹10 from Tuesday, preserving the structural premium that Tamil Nadu’s bullion market consistently commands. Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kerala and Pune were all uniformly pegged at the national benchmark of ₹1,56,210 for 24-karat, ₹1,43,190 for 22-karat and ₹1,17,160 for 18-karat gold per 10 grams, each easing ₹10 from Tuesday’s close.

Delhi quoted 24-karat gold at ₹1,56,360 per 10 grams, 22-karat at ₹1,43,340 and 18-karat at ₹1,17,310 down ₹10 across all karats from Tuesday while Vadodara and Ahmedabad were both quoted at ₹1,56,260 for 24-karat, ₹1,43,240 for 22-karat and ₹1,17,210 for 18-karat gold per 10 grams, also down ₹10. The uniform ₹10 decline across all ten cities confirms this was a nominal adjustment rather than any directional move.

Yesterday’s Prices

On Tuesday, gold prices were flat across the board for a second consecutive session, with 24K holding at ₹1,56,220 per 10 grams, 22K at ₹1,43,200 and 18K at ₹1,17,170 nationally. The stability had followed Monday’s steep ₹1,420 decline in 24K the sharpest single-session fall since the post-tariff correction began which had itself come on the back of a five-session losing streak totalling ₹2,070 per 10 grams from the previous Wednesday’s close. All ten cities had held flat on Tuesday without exception, pointing to a market in genuine equilibrium after an exceptionally turbulent fortnight.
