MUMBAI, April 24: Hindustan Construction Company said it has secured a water infrastructure contract worth about ₹2,917.6 crore from City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited, according to an exchange filing.

The project has been awarded through a joint venture with LCESPL, with HCC’s share estimated at around ₹1,100 crore.

The contract includes construction of a 22.21-km raw water tunnel in Raigad using tunnel boring machine technology, connecting Kondhane Dam in Karjat to a proposed 250 MLD water treatment plant in Panvel. The scope also covers supply, installation, testing and commissioning.

The agreement includes a 15-year operation and maintenance component under a design, build and operate framework.

HCC Share Price fell in early trading despite the order win. At 10:15 a.m. IST, the stock was at ₹20.36, down 1.21% from its previous close of ₹20.61. It traded between ₹21.25 and ₹19.94 during the session.

Market reaction reflected caution over execution timelines, funding needs and working capital requirements typical of engineering, procurement and construction projects.

The project is part of CIDCO’s broader plan to strengthen water infrastructure in Navi Mumbai and surrounding areas, aimed at supporting urban and industrial growth.

HCC said the contract reinforces its presence in complex infrastructure segments such as tunnelling and water systems, where execution capability is a key differentiator.
