Nifty surges Over 200 points as crude slides and rupee strengthens.

Nifty snapped its five-session losing streak, rallying 228 points to close at 23,995. The index opened with a strong gap-up of 161 points and extended gains throughout the session, ending near the day’s high. NSE cash market volumes, however, declined by 4% compared to the previous session.

Among Nifty constituents, Eternal, Indigo, and Infosys emerged as top gainers, while ONGC, HDFC Life, and HDFC Bank lagged.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive, with all sectors closing in the green. Media, IT, and Realty outperformed, leading the gains.

Broader markets mirrored the strength in benchmarks. The Nifty Midcap 100 advanced 1.10%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 rose 1.3%. Market breadth remained strong for the second consecutive session, with the BSE advance-decline ratio improving to 1.76, indicating sustained buying interest in mid- and small-cap stocks.

Indian rupee appreciated sharply by 65 paise to close at 95.91, emerging as Asia’s top performer, supported by favorable global cues including a sharp drop in crude oil prices, a softer dollar index, and renewed risk-on sentiment.

From Friday’s low of 23,606, Nifty has recovered more than 400 points, reclaiming its position above the 50 DEMA placed at 23,979. The recent swing low of 23,606 is an important support, as it aligns with the rising trendline connecting the April swing low of 22,182 and the June swing low of 23,070. However, the broader trend remains choppy as the index continues to trade below its 20-day and 100-day EMAs, with a lower-top, lower-bottom structure still intact on the short-term charts. For momentum to strengthen further, a decisive close above 24,200 is essential. On the downside, immediate support is seen at 23,800, followed by 23,600.
