US markets were closed yesterday, 19th June, 2025 because of Juneteenth day holiday. Karoline Leavitt, White House press secretary said yesterday that US President Donald Trump will decide within two weeks whether military action should be taken against Iran. Earlier in the day, a missile launched by Iran hit a hospital building in Israel. After this hit, Israeli defense minister, Israel Katz, said that Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei cannot be allowed to exist.

Swiss Central bank cuts interest rate to zero

Euro Stoxx 50 ended the day, yesterday, down by 69.88 points or 1.33%. Dax ended the day, down by 260.43 points or 1.12%. FTSE 100 ended the day, down by 51.67 points or 0.58%.  Swiss central bank cut down its benchmark interest rate to 0. It did so to control the appreciation in the value of Swiss franc. Norway’s central bank also cut down its interest rate from 4.5% to 4.25%.

Asian markets have started the day today, 20th June, 2025 on a mixed  note. At 8:40 a.m. Indian Standard Time, 20th June, 2025, Nikkei 225 is down by 42.77 points or 0.11%. Hang Seng is up by 205.61 points or 0.88%. Shanghai Composite is down by 0.039 points or 0.0011%. Kospi index is up by 29.17 points or 0.98%.

Oil prices steadied a bit. At this time, WTI crude for July delivery was up by 0.71%, trading at $75.67 per barrel. Brent crude for August delivery is down by 2.42%, trading at $76.94 per barrel.

Indian equity markets may start the day on a mixed note today as rise in oil price is in check for the time being.
