Infosys Gets GST Relief as ₹32,403 Cr Tax Notice Closed by DGGI

Bengaluru, June 7, 2025 — Infosys Ltd (NSE: INFY, BSE: 500209, NYSE: INFY) announced that the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has officially closed its ₹32,403 crore pre-show cause notice proceedings concerning alleged non-payment of Integrated GST (IGST) under the Reverse Charge Mechanism for the period between July 2017 and March 2022.

This marks a major relief for the IT major, ending a prolonged tax uncertainty that had extended over multiple fiscal years. The company had earlier disclosed receiving a pre-show cause notice for the financial years 2017-18 to 2021-22. On August 3, 2024, the DGGI had already closed proceedings for FY2017–18. With the latest communication dated June 6, 2025, closure has now been confirmed for the remaining period — FY2018–19 through FY2021–22.

“This matter stands closed,” the company stated, underscoring that the DGGI has officially concluded all related proceedings.

Infosys has consistently maintained compliance with tax norms and responded promptly to all communications from the authorities. The update has been made available on the company’s website as part of its statutory disclosure obligations.

This development eliminates a significant contingent liability and is expected to boost investor sentiment and improve clarity on Infosys’ financial risk landscape.
