Who Is Eligible for the Jio IPO Shareholder Quota?
The shareholder reservation is intended for eligible individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who held public equity shares of Reliance Industries on the specified eligibility date.
For the Jio Platforms IPO, the relevant date is October 14, 2026, when the company filed its RHP. Investors generally needed to purchase RIL shares by October 13 to allow for settlement by the eligibility date under the T+1 settlement cycle.
The eligibility date has passed. Buying RIL shares now will not establish eligibility for this IPO’s shareholder reservation.
Holding even one eligible RIL share can meet the shareholding threshold, provided the other conditions in the RHP are satisfied. The shares must be held in the demat account linked to the PAN used for the application.
What Is the Maximum Application Amount Under the Shareholder Quota?
The maximum application amount under the Jio IPO shareholder category is ₹2 lakh. Investors must follow the applicable bid and lot-size requirements when entering their application.
Eligible RIL shareholders may also be able to submit a separate application under the shareholder category and another under the retail or non-institutional investor (NII) category, subject to the IPO rules and category limits. Each application must satisfy the relevant eligibility and application requirements.
Investors should not assume that multiple applications guarantee allotment. They should follow the instructions in the RHP and the application platform.
Does the Shareholder Quota Improve Jio IPO Allotment Chances?
The shareholder quota provides a separate allocation category for eligible RIL shareholders. It does not guarantee that an applicant will receive shares.
The final outcome depends on the number of valid applications, demand within the relevant category and the applicable basis of allotment. If the reserved portion is oversubscribed, eligible applicants may receive fewer shares than they applied for or no allotment.
Investors should therefore treat the shareholder quota as an additional eligible application route, not as a guaranteed way to obtain Jio Platforms shares.
