JSW Energy has secured the turbine-generator order for Phase II of its 1,600 MW Salboni thermal project, completing equipment placement for the full 3,200 MW project, while shares fall 0.68%.

Mumbai, September 25: JSW Energy has secured a new order for two 800 MW steam turbine generators for Phase II of its Salboni Thermal Power Project in West Bengal, taking the total turbine-generator equipment placement for the 3,200 MW project to 3,200 MW.
The order has been placed by JSW Thermal Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSW Energy, with Toshiba JSW Power Systems Private Limited, an associate company.
JSW Energy Completes Turbine-Generator Orders For 3,200 MW Salboni Project
According to the exchange filing, JSW Thermal Energy has entered into a contract with Toshiba JSW for the procurement of two 800 MW steam turbine generators for Phase II of the Salboni project.
The latest contract follows the earlier placement of orders for two 800 MW units for Phase I, which was disclosed by the company on January 15, 2026. With the Phase-II order now secured, turbine-generator equipment orders have been placed for all four 800 MW units, covering the project’s full 3,200 MW capacity.
The turbine-generator packages will be manufactured and supplied in line with the project’s construction schedule.

The JSW Energy share price stood at ₹506.55 as of 3:56 PM IST on September 25, 2026, according to the market data shown.
The stock was down ₹3.45, or 0.68%, at the time. Shares remained under pressure through much of the session, despite the company’s announcement regarding the Salboni project.
The price movement was recorded on the same day as JSW Energy disclosed the completion of turbine-generator equipment placement for the entire project.

Salboni Project Adds To JSW Energy’s Thermal Capacity Pipeline
The Salboni Thermal Power Project is being developed in West Bengal, with the full project comprising four 800 MW units. The latest order covers the two units under Phase II.
JSW Energy said securing the turbine-generator package through Toshiba JSW is intended to strengthen supply-chain certainty, improve coordination during project execution and reduce risks associated with shortages of critical power-generation equipment.
The company currently has 5,958 MW of installed thermal generation capacity and another 5,000 MW under construction, including 3,200 MW at Salboni and 1,800 MW at JSW Madhya Pradesh Power Company Limited.
Beyond thermal generation, JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.4 GW, comprising 15 GW operational capacity and 13.4 GW under construction across thermal, hydro and renewable energy. Its locked-in storage capacity stands at 29.6 GWh.
