Mumbai July, 27: Eternal and IndiGo finished at the top of the Nifty 50 gainers’ list on July 27, 2026, as buying spread across consumer internet, aviation, information technology and financial stocks. Eternal rose 5.61% to ₹295.70, while IndiGo advanced 5.12% to ₹5,240 at the 3:30 PM IST close, according to exchange data.

The strength was not confined to the two leaders. Infosys and Bajaj Finance gained more than 3.5% each, while Max Healthcare advanced 3.30%. On the other side, ONGC was the clear outlier, sliding 4.17%, even as losses in most other Nifty laggards remained relatively contained.

ONGC Leads Losers As Declines Remain Limited Elsewhere

Selling was much more concentrated on the losing side. ONGC dropped 4.17% to ₹238.39 from its previous close of ₹248.76, making it the steepest fall among the Nifty 50 stocks shown in the exchange data.

HDFC Life and HDFC Bank followed, but their declines were substantially smaller. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Power Grid slipped only marginally.

Buying Broadens Beyond The Top Five Gainers

Several heavyweight stocks outside the top five also participated in the advance. Shriram Finance gained 3.27%, Asian Paints rose 2.73% and M&M added 2.49%. Bajaj Finserv and Maruti Suzuki were up 2.28% and 2.14%, respectively.

The Eternal share price finishing at ₹295.70 after reaching ₹297 was particularly significant for the gainers’ table, while IndiGo’s move above ₹5,200 added further weight to the positive side of the market.

Conclusion

The Nifty 50 gainers and losers at the July 27 close showed a clear imbalance between the two sides. The leading gainers recorded sizeable moves, with Eternal and IndiGo advancing more than 5% and another three stocks gaining more than 3%.

Losses, by comparison, were largely shallow outside ONGC. The energy stock’s 4.17% decline stood apart from the rest of the laggards, while strength across IT, financial, auto and consumer-facing names gave the gainers’ list a broader character.
