Market Snapshot

Among other laggards, Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank and State Bank of India traded lower. Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto and Trent also closed in negative territory.

The divergence between defensive and utility stocks on one side and technology shares on the other shaped the day’s movement in the Nifty 50 index, with investors trimming exposure to IT counters while selectively buying power and telecom stocks.

Conclusion

The Nifty 50 witnessed a split session on June 19, 2026, with gains in NTPC, Bharti Airtel and Jio Financial Services offset by sharp declines in heavyweight IT stocks. Infosys, TCS and Tech Mahindra remained under pressure, limiting broader market gains and weighing on benchmark index performance. Investors will closely track upcoming corporate developments and sector-specific triggers for further direction in the coming sessions.
