November 14, 2025: The IT sector began Friday’s session on a weaker note, adding pressure to the broader market. The Nifty IT Index slipped close to 1% in the early hours of trade and continued to move sideways through the morning session. By 3:00 PM, the index was trading at 36,258, down 1.15% from the previous close. Market sentiment remained muted as the index showed limited momentum and largely held its sideways trajectory through the first half of the afternoon session.

Major IT Stocks Open Lower

Earlier in the day, major IT stocks opened lower, with Infosys down 1.91%, Tech Mahindra down 0.66%, HCLTech down 0.29%, and TCS down 0.36%. Other prominent names such as Wipro, Oracle, and LTIMindtree also traded in the red during the early hours of Friday’s session.

By around 3:00 PM, the trend remained largely unchanged. Infosys was trading at ₹1,503.90, down 2.46%; Tech Mahindra was at ₹1,439.10, down 0.85%; HCLTech slipped 0.18%; while TCS showed a slight improvement, trading at ₹3,107.60, up 0.06%.

What Triggered the Decline

The reason for an overall weakness in the IT stocks can be attributed to the renewed concerns emerging from foreign commentary on interest rates. There are fresh signals that the rate cut can be delayed further, dampening the overall environment. The bond yields have also risen, especially on tech-heavy segments. The Asian markets contributed to the softness and put an extra bit of pressure on the Indian IT shares.

Since a significant portion of the revenues of the top IT companies of India is derived from the US, any signal of higher interest rates can prompt US-based companies to reduce and slow down technology spending. This affects order visibility and overall deal momentum in the sector.

Sector-Wide Impact

The Nifty IT index slid close to 1 percent at the opening bell and moved rather sideways, deriving the momentum from the weaker IT stocks. Most heavyweights opened in the red, and the performance was largely the same towards the closing bell. The Nifty IT Index continued sliding and was more than 1% down towards the closing bell, around 03:00 PM on Friday.
