NLC India Wins Bid for Phosphorite-Limestone Blocks in Chhattisgarh

Chennai, May 28, 2025 — NLC India Limited (NSE: NLCINDIA | BSE: 513683), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise, has announced its emergence as the preferred bidder for two strategic mineral blocks in Chhattisgarh.
Strategic Mineral Allocation
NLC India was declared the preferred bidder for the following blocks:
- Semhardih Phosphorite and Limestone Block
- Raipura Phosphorite and Limestone Block
Both blocks are located in the Balod district of Chhattisgarh, and the bid outcome follows the e-auction process conducted by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, on May 15–16, 2025.
These assets are classified under Critical & Strategic Mineral Blocks, making the acquisition particularly significant for long-term national mineral security and downstream industrial applications.
Strategic Outlook
With this development, NLC will be able to enhance its portfolio beyond renewable energy and lignite. This will be in line with the company’s plan to diversify and its strategy for resource acquisition. For the company, Phosphorite and limestone are crucial inputs for fertiliser and cement production.
The company has not yet disclosed the commercial terms of the bidding or the estimated reserves of the blocks.
