NMDC's Iron Ore Production Doubles To 4.43 Million Tons In May

NMDC Limited, India’s leading iron ore producer, has reported a robust surge in both production and sales volumes for May 2025, showcasing a solid start to FY26.
May 2025 Operational Highlights (Provisional)
NMDC more than doubled its iron ore production year-on-year in May 2025, reaching 4.43 million tonnes (MT) compared to 2.34 MT in May 2024. Sales also saw a significant increase, rising to 4.34 MT, up from 2.82 MT during the same period last year.

YoY Growth Highlights:
- Total production surged 89.3% in May 2025.
- Total sales rose by 53.9% YoY for the month.
- On a cumulative basis for April–May FY26, production increased 44.8%, while sales improved 25.0% YoY.
Strategic Outlook
The strong performance in both Chhattisgarh and Karnataka indicates a well-optimized supply chain and rising demand, both domestically and from export markets. The Chhattisgarh region led the surge, with production more than doubling YoY in May. NMDC’s focus on enhancing operational efficiency and increasing output aligns with the government’s infrastructure push and continued demand from steel producers.
