Patel Engineering Ltd. announced that it has won the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for a large water supply and irrigation project worth ₹958.33 crores from the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation. Patel Engineering’s contribution to the joint venture equity is ₹191.67 crore (20% stake in the contract).

Project Details and Scope

This project consists of building of pipeline distribution Network in Nira Deoghar Right Bank Main Canal from Km 87 to Km 135, along with its distributaries and minor off-takes from Km 65 to Km 135. The site is situated in the Village of Kalaj, Taluka Phaltan, district Satara, Maharashtra.

The comprehensive scope of work includes:

  • Excavation and refilling for pipeline trenches
  • Installation of structures, various types of valves, chambers, and outlets
  • Pipe laying, jointing, and testing of the entire pipeline
  • A five-year operations, repairs, and maintenance period post-completion

The project is expected to be executed within 36 months.

Strategic Outlook

With this latest contract win, Patel Engineering continues to consolidate its leadership position in the infrastructure sector in general, and the hydropower, tunneling and irrigation verticals, in particular. A company that has been around since 1949 has done over 85 dams, 40 hydroelectric projects and 300 km of tunneling, largely for central and state government clients.

The work is on the same lines as that of Patel Engineering which intends to enhance its presence in the domain of rural infrastructure and create durable and sustainable water management systems in India.
