Mumbai, July 16: Retail fuel prices remained largely steady across metros and state capitals on Thursday. While New Delhi, Mumbai and several other cities saw no change, Bengaluru saw a decline in both petrol and diesel prices, whereas Lucknow and Patna recorded increases.
Oil prices rose for a fourth straight session on Thursday after fresh US strikes on Iranian military targets heightened fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East. Investors remained focused on geopolitical developments as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil transit route, continued to escalate.
As trade progressed, oil futures edged down. Brent crude futures dipped 0.2% to $84.8 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dipped 0.06% to $79.5 a barrel.
Despite the rally, analysts noted that the pace of gains has been measured as there has been no significant disruption to physical oil flows so far. However, the risk premium in crude prices has increased sharply.
Here’s a look at the latest fuel prices.
Petrol Prices
Petrol prices remained largely stable across major Indian metro cities and state capitals on Thursday, with only a handful of locations witnessing marginal revisions. State-run oil marketing companies continued to hold retail fuel prices steady in most parts of the country despite persistent volatility in global crude oil markets.
