Mumbai, July 2: Petrol and diesel prices remained largely stable across India’s major metro cities and state capitals on Wednesday, with only a few locations witnessing marginal revisions. Fuel rates in key cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Jaipur were unchanged, reflecting continued stability in retail fuel pricing.
Among notable changes, petrol prices rose in Patna and Chennai while declining in Noida and Thiruvananthapuram. Diesel prices also edged higher in Patna but fell in Noida and Thiruvananthapuram. Variations in fuel prices across states continue to be driven by differences in value-added tax (VAT), dealer commissions, transportation costs and other local levies.
Oil prices fell on Thursday, extending losses from the previous session, after indirect talks between the United States and Iran in Doha concluded with signs of progress, easing fears of potential supply disruptions from the Middle East.

Brent crude futures fell 1% to $70.8 a barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude declined 1.2% to $67.8 a barrel.
The decline followed remarks from Iranian officials indicating that the Doha negotiations were “constructive,” raising hopes for de-escalation after weeks of heightened tensions in the region. The talks have reduced immediate concerns over disruptions to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for nearly a fifth of global crude supplies.
Adding to the bearish sentiment, expectations that OPEC+ could proceed with another production increase in August have reinforced the view that global supplies will remain adequate. The producer group is widely expected to continue unwinding voluntary output cuts amid resilient demand.
