Mumbai, June 8: Petrol and diesel prices remained largely unchanged across metros and state capitals on Monday. While most major markets, including New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai, saw little to no change in fuel rates, Jaipur recorded the sharpest increase in both petrol and diesel prices. Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram continued to rank among the most expensive cities for fuel, while Chandigarh remained one of the cheapest markets for diesel. State-level taxes and local levies continued to drive regional price differences despite the broader stability in retail fuel rates.
Crude oil prices surged more than 3% on Monday after Israel launched fresh strikes on Lebanon and reports emerged of explosions in several Iranian cities, heightening concerns over a wider Middle East conflict and potential supply disruptions. Brent crude climbed to $96.24 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose to $93.41, reversing losses from the previous session.

Petrol Prices
Petrol prices stayed largely unchanged on Monday, with only tiny revisions reported in select state capitals. New Delhi, Kolkata, Noida, Chandigarh and Thiruvananthapuram saw no change in retail fuel prices, while Mumbai and Chennai recorded slight increases of 3 paise and 4 paise per litre, respectively. Hyderabad continued to have one of the highest petrol prices among major cities at ₹115.72 per litre, followed by Thiruvananthapuram at ₹115.49 and Patna at ₹113.54.
Among the cities that witnessed notable changes, Jaipur saw the sharpest increase, with petrol prices rising 69 paise to ₹113.35 per litre. Bhubaneswar also recorded a gain of 24 paise, taking prices to ₹109.05 per litre. On the downside, Bengaluru registered the biggest decline, with petrol prices falling 28 paise to ₹110.61 per litre, while Lucknow, Patna and Gurugram saw modest reductions. Despite these city-specific revisions, retail fuel prices across the country have largely remained range-bound in recent months, with state-level taxes and local levies continuing to drive variations in pump prices.
Diesel Prices
Diesel prices remained largely unchanged across India’s major metro cities and state capitals on Monday, reflecting continued stability in retail fuel rates. Prices in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Noida and Hyderabad were unchanged from the previous day, while Chandigarh continued to have the lowest diesel price among the listed cities at ₹89.47 per litre. At the other end of the spectrum, Thiruvananthapuram remained the most expensive market, with diesel retailing at ₹104.40 per litre, followed by Hyderabad at ₹103.82.

Jaipur recorded the biggest increase, with diesel prices rising 61 paise to ₹98.39 per litre, while Bhubaneswar saw a 24-paise rise to ₹100.76. Bengaluru posted the sharpest decline, with prices easing 26 paise to ₹98.54 per litre. Smaller reductions were also seen in Lucknow, Patna, Gurugram and Thiruvananthapuram.
