Mumbai, October 1: Petrol and diesel prices today, October 1, remained unchanged across most major cities, with fuel rates largely stable in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru. However, Noida, Bhubaneswar and Lucknow recorded increases in both petrol and diesel prices, with Lucknow seeing the sharpest rise among the cities covered. Petrol was priced at ₹102.12 per litre in Delhi, while diesel cost ₹95.20 per litre.
Oil prices declined on Thursday as investors weighed stalled US-Iran peace talks against signs of a recovery in Middle East crude exports. Brent crude futures declined 0.7% to $97.3 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude was down 0.9% at $89.6.
Both benchmarks had gained around $1 a barrel in the previous session. Brent posted a monthly gain of about 14% in September, its biggest monthly increase since July, while WTI rose around 5% during the month.
The market remains caught between supply concerns linked to the conflict and signs of improving exports from the Gulf. Saudi Arabia has resumed oil tanker loadings from its Red Sea port of Yanbu after restarting its East-West Pipeline. A broker estimates Gulf oil exports, including so-called dark exports, recovered to 23.3 million barrels per day in the latest week, broadly in line with the 2025 average.
Investors are also watching developments in US-Iran diplomacy. Qatar has said it hopes shuttle diplomacy between Tehran and Washington can produce a breakthrough, although US President Donald Trump has denied reports that he was willing to offer Iran sanctions relief and release frozen funds in return for steps on its nuclear programme.
Meanwhile, OPEC+ producers are expected to keep their November production targets unchanged when they meet on Sunday, according to two sources familiar with the matter cited by Reuters. In the US, crude inventories rose by 922,000 barrels last week, contrary to expectations for a draw, while gasoline and distillate stocks fell sharply amid strong seasonal and global demand.
For Indian markets, elevated crude prices remain a key concern given the country’s dependence on imported oil, with sustained prices near $100 a barrel potentially adding pressure to inflation, corporate margins and the trade balance.
Petrol Prices

Petrol prices remained unchanged across most major metro cities and state capitals on Thursday, October 1, with New Delhi recording a rate of ₹102.12 per litre. Petrol was priced at ₹113.51 per litre in Kolkata, while Mumbai and Chennai recorded rates of ₹111.21 and ₹107.76 per litre, respectively.
Among other major cities, petrol was priced at ₹111.68 per litre in Bengaluru, ₹116.15 in Hyderabad, ₹113.19 in Jaipur and ₹115.49 in Thiruvananthapuram. Gurgaon and Noida recorded petrol prices of ₹102.97 and ₹102.12 per litre, respectively.
Some cities saw marginal changes in petrol prices. In Noida, petrol became costlier by ₹0.16 to ₹102.12 per litre, while prices in Bhubaneswar rose by ₹0.06 to ₹109.03 per litre. Lucknow recorded the sharpest increase, with petrol prices rising ₹0.82 to ₹102.68 per litre.
Petrol was also priced at ₹101.54 per litre in Chandigarh and ₹113.37 in Patna, with no change recorded in either city. Petrol prices in India vary across states and cities due to differences in local taxes, including VAT, in addition to other components of the retail price.
Diesel Prices

Diesel prices remained unchanged across most major metro cities and state capitals on Thursday, October 1. In New Delhi, diesel was priced at ₹95.20 per litre, while rates stood at ₹99.82 per litre in Kolkata, ₹97.83 in Mumbai and ₹99.55 in Chennai.
Among other major cities, diesel was priced at ₹99.56 per litre in Bengaluru, ₹104.23 in Hyderabad, ₹98.25 in Jaipur and ₹104.40 in Thiruvananthapuram. Gurgaon and Noida recorded diesel prices of ₹95.64 and ₹95.56 per litre, respectively.
Some cities recorded an increase in diesel prices. In Noida, diesel became costlier by ₹0.12 to ₹95.56 per litre, while Bhubaneswar saw a ₹0.06 increase to ₹100.74 per litre. Lucknow recorded the steepest rise, with diesel prices climbing ₹0.74 to ₹96.10 per litre.
Diesel was priced at ₹89.47 per litre in Chandigarh and ₹99.36 in Patna, with no change recorded in either city. Retail diesel prices vary across states and cities, primarily due to differences in local taxes such as VAT, apart from other components that make up the final pump price.
