Nifty Ended With Minor Gains
Nifty eked out minor gains in yet another lackluster session. The index rose 14 points to close at 25,496. Nifty remained in the narrow range of 170 points throughout the session with low volatility baring couple of intraday swings.
Tata Motors passenger vehicles, Eicher Motors, and BEL led Nifty advances, while Trent, Coal India, and Eternal succumbed to selling pressure as top losers.
Media, FMCG, and financial services edged marginally lower, but all other sectors closed green, with Healthcare, Pharma, and PSU Banks posting the strongest gains.
The Midcap 100 outperformed with a 0.66% gain, while the Smallcap 100 remained flat. Overall market breadth stayed resilient for the second consecutive session, ending with an advance decline ratio of 1.15.
The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar by 4 paise, buoyed by foreign fund inflows and a softening in global commodity prices. However, early gains were pared as importers seized the opportunity for bargain buying and the greenback rebounded amid persistent geopolitical tensions.
Nifty continued to remain directionless with lack of momentum on either side. A band of 25650 25700 would continue to remain immediate hurdle while 25250-25350 could offer support in short term for Nifty. A breakout from this range could finally provide the catalyst for a sustained move
