Reliance Jio Adds Highest Subscriber Base With 19.97 Lakh Additions in October

Mumbai, December 1: Reliance Industries’ telecom arm Reliance Jio recorded the highest number of subscriber additions in India in the month of October. According to the data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio added 19.97 lakh subscribers in October, the highest in India for any telecom operator. With this, its total user base has increased to 48.47 crore, from the previous number of 48.27 crore in September.
Highest Gain Among All Telecom Operators
The additions by Reliance Jio are the highest when compared to other telecom operators such as Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea. As per the data, Bharti Airtel came second with 12.52 lakh new subscribers in October. With the new additions, Bharti Airtel’s total user base has increased to 39.36 crore in October, with the previous number of 39.24 crore in September.
State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) added 2.69 lakh new subscribers during October 2025, increasing its total user base to 9.25 crore. However, Vodafone Idea was the only telecom operator in India which did not see any new additions to its subscriber base. In October, the company lost 20.83 lakh customers. With this, it saw a decline in its user base from 20.28 crore in September, to 20.27 crore in October.
Overall Telecom Market Witnessing Expansion
The additions come at a time when India’s overall telecom market is witnessing an expansion. It has increased to 123.1 crore as of October 2025. It includes 118.4 crore wireless subscribers and 4.6 crore wireline users. Furthermore, the broadband services also witnessed a growth. The total number of broadband subscribers rose to 99.98 crore in October, an increase from 99.56 crore in September. This is a growth of 0.42%.
Reliance Industries Share Price Rises 0.40% to ₹1,573.80
Reliance Industries share price closed at ₹1566.50 down 0.10% from its previous close of ₹1575.00. Until now, the shares have traded within a range of ₹1,577.50 and ₹1,563.60. The traded volume for the Reliance Industries stock stood at 89.20 lakh shares, with the company’s market cap at ₹21,21,215 crore. The shares have their 52-week high at ₹1,581.30 and their 52-week low at ₹1,114.85.
Investor Takeaway
Reliance Industries’s telecom arm Reliance Jio has recorded the highest additions to its user base across India in October. This comes after Reliance Industries posted strong financials for Q2 FY26, with a net profit of ₹18,165 crore, a rise of 10% YoY. Its operating earnings also jumped over 14%, with sales growing by 18% to ₹90,018 crore. Investors have reacted positively to the announcement, as Reliance Industries plans to launch the Reliance Jio IPO by the first half of 2026.
