Mumbai, July 7: RRP Defense, an Indian original equipment manufacturer specialising in advanced electro-optical systems and defence technologies, has secured a manufacturing contract worth Rs 64.31 crore from Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) for the supply of a telescopic day sight product.
The contract comprises the supply of 16,035 MEPRO X6 Day Sights, valued at Rs 64.31 crore, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The MEPRO X6 is a compact, lightweight 6x magnification telescopic day sight designed by Israel-based Meprolight for assault rifles and light machine guns.
The contract further strengthens the strategic collaboration between RRP Defense, Meprolight, and Bharat Electronics Ltd while reinforcing India’s capability to design, manufacture, and deploy advanced electro-optical systems within the country, RRP Defense said.
The company stated that the entire MEPRO X6 Day Sight will be manufactured in India with a targeted 100 per cent indigenous content, enabled through the technology transfer agreement signed between RRP Defense and Meprolight, Israel.
Through this strategic partnership, RRP Defense has acquired the technology, manufacturing know-how, and exclusive rights to manufacture the MEPRO X6 for the Indian market, significantly strengthening the country’s self-reliance in advanced weapon sighting systems, said Rajendra Chodankar, Founder & Chairman, RRP Group of Companies.
