New Delhi, November 24, 2025: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has won a significant railway electrification contract after being the lowest bidder for a tender from North Eastern Railway, as per the latest announcement by the company. The contract enhances RVNL’s capabilities as a key implementer of the Indian Railways’ electrification and capacity-augmentation contracts.

Contract Overview

RVNL has emerged as the L1 wicket for the design/supply/erection /testing and commissioning of OHE modification and feeder wire work, and will carry out work for the 2×25 kV electrical traction system. The scope of work includes upgrading of the entire UTR-MWP consisting of 184 RKM / 368 TKM under the Lucknow division of Northern Railway. The work is part of the normal course of business of RVNL and would be another significant electrification and capacity enhancement initiative across the railway system.

Key Project Details (Annexure Highlights)

The North Eastern Railway has issued a domestic contract worth approximately ₹180.78 crore for modifying the OHE and the installation of feeder wires as part of a 2×25 kV traction system. The contract encompasses the UTR–MWP route, which has 184 route-kilometres / 368 track-kilometres. There are no related parties involved in the Contract No. CEEPROJECT-LJN-UTR-MWP. The work is to be executed over a 24-month period. This contract further cements the company’s position in railway electrification for traction systems.

Strategic Significance

The initiative is part of enhancements for electric traction capacity along high-density corridors. Transitioning to a 2×25 kV traction system will lead to improved efficiency, increased haulage capacity, and support faster and heavier trains. For RVNL, this win adds to the company’s growing infrastructure and electrification project order book across the country.

Share Market Snapshot

As of 24 November 2025, the share price of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited was closed at ₹320.70, up 2.13% from its previous close of ₹314. The share opened at ₹316.90 and traded between ₹321.50 and ₹312.60 so far. The share market capitalization of the company was at 65,469.60 Cr, high in the industry, and the PE ratio was at 57.70.
