Kolkata, July 15: Silver prices stayed unchanged in Kolkata on Wednesday, extending the calm that has returned to the market after a volatile first half of July. Unlike the sharp day-to-day swings seen earlier this month, silver has now traded at the same level for several consecutive sessions.

According to today’s retail rates, silver is selling at ₹235 per gram, while 1 kilogram of silver is priced at ₹2,35,000. Both rates are unchanged from Tuesday.

Although there hasn’t been any movement today, the stable pricing comes as good news for buyers planning to purchase silver jewellery, utensils or investment bars, as it removes the uncertainty created by frequent price changes.

Silver Takes a Pause After a Choppy First Half of July

Silver has had an eventful month so far.

The metal traded around ₹245 per gram during the first week of July before giving up those gains as global precious metal prices softened. The correction brought silver down to ₹235 per gram, where it has now remained for multiple trading sessions.

That tells its own story.

Rather than continuing to fall, the market appears to have found a temporary support level. Buyers aren’t chasing prices higher, but sellers also haven’t managed to push silver lower. For now, the market seems content to wait for fresh global cues before making its next move.

Even at today’s unchanged rate, silver is still ₹10 per gram below the highs seen earlier this month.

July Performance So Far

Particulars  Silver
July 1 Price  ₹245/g (₹2,45,000/kg)
July 15 Price  ₹235/g (₹2,35,000/kg)

Lowest in July  ₹235/g (July 9–15)
Monthly Trend  -4.08%

Silver has slipped around 4% since the beginning of July. While the recent correction has erased the gains seen during the first week, the market has shown signs of stabilising over the last few trading sessions, with prices holding steady instead of extending the decline.

Why Do Silver Prices Change Every Day?

Silver prices are influenced by both investment demand and industrial consumption. International silver prices, movements in the rupee against the US dollar, import costs, manufacturing demand and global economic conditions all play a role in determining daily retail prices.

Because silver is widely used in industries such as electronics, solar energy and electric vehicles, its prices often react more sharply to changes in economic expectations than gold.

Conclusion

Silver prices in Kolkata remained unchanged on July 15, holding steady at ₹235 per gram and ₹2,35,000 per kilogram. While the market has paused after the recent correction, prices are still below the highs recorded earlier this month, offering buyers a relatively better opportunity than they had during the early-July rally. Investors will continue to watch global commodity markets for fresh cues that could determine silver’s next move.
