Silver Price in Mumbai Has Moved Higher in Recent Sessions

The recent trend shows silver gradually moving up from the levels seen at the beginning of August.

Silver was priced at ₹235 per gram on August 2, 3 and 4. The rate moved up to ₹240 on August 5 and stayed there on August 6.

Another ₹5 increase took the rate to ₹245 on August 7, where it remained through August 10.

Today’s ₹10 jump has now taken the rate to ₹255 per gram.

Overall, silver is ₹20 per gram higher than its August 4 price. For a 1 kg purchase, that translates into a ₹20,000 increase in the base value.

What Does 10 Grams of Silver Cost in Mumbai?

At today’s rate of ₹255 per gram, the base value of 10 grams of silver comes to ₹2,550.

The calculator shown uses a 12% making charge and 3% GST. Under those assumptions, the estimated cost is:

Cost Component  Amount
Base value  ₹2,550
Making charges  ₹306
GST (3%)  ₹86
Total Amount  ₹2,942

So, with the assumed charges, a 10-gram silver purchase would cost around ₹2,942.

This is only an illustration. Actual making charges vary depending on the jeweller and the product being purchased.

Today’s ₹10 Rise Adds Up Quickly

A ₹10 increase may not look significant when quoted for a single gram, but the impact becomes much bigger for larger purchases.

Compared with yesterday:

  • 10 grams: ₹100 more
  • 100 grams: ₹1,000 more
  • 1 kg: ₹10,000 more

And compared with August 4, when silver was ₹235 per gram:

  • 10 grams: ₹200 higher
  • 100 grams: ₹2,000 higher
  • 1 kg: ₹20,000 higher

This is why buyers planning to purchase larger quantities may want to pay attention to even relatively small daily changes in the per-gram rate.

Should Buyers Purchase Silver at Today’s Rate?

That depends on why you’re buying.

If the purchase is for jewellery, gifts or a planned requirement, the daily movement is only one factor. Buyers should also compare making charges and the final bill across jewellers.

For investment purposes, silver prices can be volatile and are influenced by both precious-metal demand and industrial demand. A short-term price increase by itself doesn’t tell you where prices will move next.

The sensible approach is to look at your time horizon and purpose rather than trying to predict every daily move.

Don’t Confuse the Silver Rate With the Final Bill

The ₹255 per gram figure represents the indicative silver rate shown above. It doesn’t necessarily represent the amount you’ll finally pay at a jewellery store.

Your final bill can include:

  • Silver value
  • Making charges
  • GST
  • Product-specific charges
  • Other applicable levies

So if you’re comparing two jewellers in Mumbai, compare the final payable amount for the same weight and product, not just the advertised per-gram rate.

Bottom Line

Silver prices in Mumbai rose ₹10 per gram on August 11, taking the rate to ₹255 per gram.

The current price works out to ₹2,550 for 10 grams, ₹25,500 for 100 grams and ₹2,55,000 for 1 kg. The 1 kg rate is ₹10,000 higher than yesterday and ₹20,000 above the August 4 level.

For a 10-gram purchase, the base silver value is ₹2,550. With the calculator’s assumed 12% making charges and 3% GST, the estimated total comes to ₹2,942.

The key takeaway for buyers is simple: silver has been trending higher over the past week, but the rate shown on the market is not necessarily the final price you’ll pay. Check making charges, GST and the complete bill before making a purchase.

Silver rates are indicative and may vary across jewellers and locations. The quoted rates may not include making charges, GST or other applicable levies. Buyers should confirm the final price with their jeweller before purchasing.
