Silver Price Remains Stable in India

The domestic rates shown for August 17 indicate no day-on-day change in silver prices. The stability comes even as international silver prices moved higher during Monday’s trading session.

Silver has a dual role as both an investment asset and an industrial metal. Changes in international bullion prices, currency movements, industrial demand and broader economic conditions can influence domestic silver prices. Current market reports also point to continued strength in the precious-metals segment.

What Drives Silver Prices in India?

Silver prices are influenced by international bullion prices, the Indian rupee’s movement against the US dollar, domestic demand and industrial consumption. Because silver is widely used in industries such as electronics and solar technology, changes in industrial demand can also affect its price.

Global market conditions remain important for silver. On August 17, international silver prices were reported to be trading higher, supported by broader strength in precious metals.

Silver as an Investment

Silver can be purchased in several forms, including physical bars, coins and jewellery, while investors may also use market-linked silver products. Physical purchases can involve additional costs such as making charges, premiums and GST, meaning the final purchase price can be higher than the quoted spot or benchmark rate.

Buyers should compare purity, seller premiums and total charges rather than relying only on the headline silver rate.

Conclusion

Silver prices in India remained unchanged at ₹250 per gram and ₹2,50,000 per kilogram on August 17, according to the rates shown. The price of 10 grams stands at ₹2,500, while 100 grams costs ₹25,000.

The displayed calculator estimates that buying 10 grams of silver with 12% making charges and 3% GST would cost approximately ₹2,884. While domestic benchmark rates were steady, international silver prices moved higher during Monday’s trading session, highlighting the potential for domestic rates to change as global market conditions evolve.
