Silver Rates Today, July 9, 2026: Silver Price Drop Rs 99 per 10 gram

Mumbai, July 9: National rates for silver are Rs 2,350 (Rs 235 per gram or Rs 2,35,000 per kg) on Thursday, down Rs 99 per 10 gm from Wednesday’s closing price of Rs 2,449 per 10 grams. Silver on Wednesday had eased slightly after rallying strongly in the first two days of the week. The slide on Thursday caps a choppy week for the white metal, which is now down by over Rs 100 from the highs touched earlier in the week.

The domestic price of silver continues to follow international trends closely. On a day-to-day basis, rates are also affected by demand from industrial consumers such as electronics and solar panel manufacturers, the U. S. dollar and overall risk appetite in global markets. However, traders say silver benefits from additionally supportive demand from industrial sectors even during times of investment-driven price volatility, unlike gold. This has limited the losses in today’s session, they add.

In the city-specific report, quoting from prices of leading retailers, the most expensive cities today for silver are Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala where rates have been corrected to Rs 2,450 per 10 grams today from Rs 2,599 per 10 grams on Monday. Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad continue to see prices at Rs 2,350 per 10 grams, lower from Rs 2,499 per 10 grams on Monday.

Both sets of cities quoted above saw their silver prices decline by Rs 149 per 10 gm from Monday’s high to Thursday’s close. This means that this week’s sell-off, though sharp, has been evenly distributed across markets and has not corrected any more in one city compared to the other; only that Hyderabad and Kerala briefly traded lower than Chennai prices on Wednesday before recovering in line with the latter two cities later that day.

As mentioned earlier, the rates mentioned above do not include 3 per cent GST and making charges. Depending on the design and retailer you choose, these will be added on top of the base price quoted by jewellers.

National prices of gold in India are Rs 1,43,120 per 10 gm for 24 karat gold today (Thursday), Rs 1,31,190 per 10 gm for 22 karat gold and Rs 1,07,340 per 10 gm for 18 karat gold. On Wednesday gold closed at Rs 1,46,610 per 10 gm for 24 karat, Rs 1,34,390 per 10 gm for 22 karat gold and Rs 1,09,960 per 10 gm for 18 karat gold. So, gold today lost Rs 3,490 for 24 karat, Rs 3,200 for 22 karat and Rs 2,620 for 18 karat gold, as investors sold the yellow metal to realise profits.

Delhi is the second costliest city after Chennai for gold purchases in India while Pune, Mumbai and Kolkata are cheapest for gold purchases along with few other cities.

This sell-off comes as the U. S. dollar trades stronger and investors take money off the table after last week’s rally. Investors have also taken heart from no escalation in geopolitical tensions in the Middle East after Iran shot down an unmanned U.S. drone on Thursday. Safe-haven demand has lessened a little, thus weighing on gold and silver prices, traders say.

“The weakness in metal prices is purely based on profit booking after last week’s big rally. We expect prices to trade sideways or bounce back if the dollar corrects even slightly as the short-term trend remains bullish,” says a Mumbai-based dealer quoted by Reuters.

Domestic jewellers seem unfazed by price moves. Multiple dealers said that customer footfall has remained steady, with many buyers continuing to invest in gold and silver as they consider purchases to be a safe haven during festivals and weddings later in the year.
