Mumbai, Aug 28: Five stocks are in focus on Friday, from Hero MotoCorp’s fresh Rs 1,758 crore bet to raise its stake in Ather Energy to Adani Power’s internal stake sale in a subsidiary, a fresh order haul at NBCC, a large BSNL-linked order win at Tejas Networks and a notable block purchase in Happiest Minds Technologies. Here’s what’s driving each stock and what to track through the day.

Hero MotoCorp (HEROMOTOCO): To acquire additional Ather Energy shares for up to Rs 1,758 crore

Hero MotoCorp said it will acquire additional shares in Ather Energy for up to Rs 1,758 crore from an existing shareholder, in a move that will lift its stake in the electric two-wheeler maker. Ather Energy, an existing associate of Hero MotoCorp, is engaged in the design, manufacturing, sale and servicing of electric two-wheelers and also operates charging infrastructure. Following the purchase, Hero MotoCorp’s shareholding in Ather is set to rise to up to 32.8 per cent on a fully diluted basis, deepening the two-wheeler major’s exposure to the electric vehicle space at a time when legacy automakers across the sector are racing to consolidate control over their EV bets. Ather Energy listed on the exchanges in 2025 and has since traded well below its issue price, making the transaction a notable vote of confidence from its largest strategic backer even as the broader electric two-wheeler segment continues to see intense competition from Ola Electric, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto.

Adani Power (ADANIPOWER): Sells stake in subsidiary Chandenvalle Infra Park to AdaniConneX

Adani Power has executed a share purchase agreement with its subsidiary Chandenvalle Infra Park and AdaniConneX for the sale of its entire stake in Chandenvalle Infra Park to AdaniConneX for Rs 535.69 crore. Upon completion of the transaction, Chandenvalle Infra Park will cease to be a subsidiary of Adani Power. The transaction effectively shifts the entity within the wider Adani group structure, from the power arm to AdaniConneX, the group’s data-centre joint venture with EdgeConneX, pointing to continued internal restructuring as the conglomerate builds out its digital infrastructure business alongside its core power operations. Investors will watch whether the deal signals a broader pattern of land or infrastructure assets being transferred from Adani Power to the group’s fast-growing data-centre arm as it scales up capacity to meet rising AI-linked electricity demand.

NBCC (NBCC): Bags orders worth Rs 134.27 crore across states

State-owned NBCC has secured multiple orders worth a combined Rs 134.27 crore, including contracts for the construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya school campuses in Jharkhand and Bihar, a Centre of Excellence in Odisha, and a Canara Bank building in Kerala. The spread of orders across education infrastructure, institutional facilities and banking sector construction underscores NBCC’s continuing role as a preferred public-sector construction and project-management agency for government and quasi-government clients across states.

Tejas Networks (TEJASNET): Wins Rs 1,537 crore LoI from TCS for BSNL 4G project

Tejas Networks has received a Letter of Intent worth Rs 1,537 crore from Tata Consultancy Services for the supply of RAN equipment, accessories and installation materials for 18,685 sites under the BSNL 4G mobile network project. The latest development is in continuation of the company’s earlier disclosure made on May 21, 2025, regarding the same project, and represents one of the larger single order wins for the domestic telecom equipment maker this year as the BSNL 4G rollout continues to progress in phases. Tejas Networks, part of the Tata group, has positioned itself as a key domestic supplier for India’s telecom equipment localisation push, and the scale of this LoI adds meaningfully to its order book at a time when BSNL’s 4G expansion remains a closely watched indicator of the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat push in telecom manufacturing.

Happiest Minds Technologies (HAPPSTMNDS): Polunin Emerging Markets Small Cap Fund buys 0.54% stake

Polunin Emerging Markets Small Cap Fund LLC bought 8.3 lakh shares, representing a 0.54 per cent stake, in Happiest Minds Technologies at Rs 429.92 per share, valued at Rs 35.68 crore. The block purchase by the emerging-markets-focused fund adds to a growing list of global institutional investors building positions in the digital transformation and IT services company, whose shares have drawn steady interest from small-cap-focused funds tracking India’s technology services space.

Broader Read

Taken together, Friday’s stock-specific triggers span a mix of themes that investors are tracking heading into the weekend: strategic consolidation in the electric vehicle space at Hero MotoCorp, internal restructuring within the Adani group’s power and digital infrastructure businesses, steady order inflows for public-sector construction major NBCC, a large telecom equipment order for Tejas Networks tied to the BSNL 4G rollout, and fresh institutional buying interest in Happiest Minds Technologies. None of these developments are directly linked to the broader market narrative around global central bank policy or the Iran war and oil prices, giving investors company-specific catalysts to weigh as Friday’s session gets under way.
