New Delhi, Oct 19: Here are five stocks in focus on Monday, from Vedanta’s plan to double zinc capacity in South Africa to Zen Technologies’ Rs 135.15 crore Cogknit stake purchase, RailTel’s Rs 167.52 crore Railway Recruitment Board order, ACME Solar’s power purchase agreement with SECI and Oil India’s coal bed methane contract. Here’s what’s driving each stock and what to track through the session.
Vedanta (VEDL)
Vedanta Ltd (VEDL) plans to double the annual zinc production capacity of its South African operations to 500,000 tonnes. The expansion will follow an investment of nearly $600 million in Phase II of the Gamsberg project, operated under Vedanta Zinc International (VZI).
Gamsberg Phase II is meant to lift mining capacity at the Northern Cape mine from 4 million tonnes a year to 8 million tonnes a year. Mining Weekly reported in May that the project was 95.5 per cent complete at a cost of $545 million, so the latest figure points to a higher final bill. The same report puts the project’s potential mine life at 50 years. Investors will track commissioning timelines, the final project cost and the zinc price outlook.
Zen Technologies (ZENTEC)
Zen Technologies Ltd (ZENTEC) said its board approved an investment of Rs 135.15 crore to acquire a 51.98 per cent stake in Bengaluru-based defence technology firm Cogknit Semantics Private Limited, on a fully diluted basis.
The price works out to roughly Rs 260 crore for 100 per cent of Cogknit, assuming the full amount pays for the stake. The Hyderabad-based defence training and anti-drone company has made several such deals, including a 51 per cent stake in drone propulsion firm Vector Technics and a 45.33 per cent stake in Bhairav Robotics in February 2025. Investors will track Cogknit’s financials, how the deal is funded and the closing timeline.
RailTel Corporation of India (RAILTEL)
RailTel Corporation of India Ltd (RAILTEL) has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) worth Rs 167.52 crore from the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Secunderabad, for AM-RMS services covering the pre-examination and post-examination stages of RRB recruitment.
RailTel also received a purchase order worth Rs 18.99 crore from Health Insurance TPA of India for IT infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions over three years. Together, the orders add up to Rs 186.51 crore, or about 2.2 per cent of the Navratna PSU’s order book of Rs 8,497 crore as of December 31, 2025, so they are incremental and not transformational. Investors will track execution timelines and margins.
ACME Solar Holdings (ACMESOLAR)
ACME Solar Holdings Ltd (ACMESOLAR) said its subsidiary, ACME Greentech Twenty, has executed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 300 MW assured peak power project under FDRE Tranche IX, at a tariff of Rs 6 per unit.
The company won the capacity in August in SECI’s 6,000 MWh tender and will supply 1,200 MWh a day, based on four hours of peak supply. Supply is due to start 18 months after the PPA signing and run for 25 years. The tariff is lower than the Rs 6.28 per unit in its FDRE Tranche VII PPA signed in May, and the project adds 1.2 GWh to its battery storage pipeline. ACME says it already holds the required connectivity and has secured a substantial portion of the land, which should speed up execution. Investors will track financing, commissioning and execution.
Oil India (OIL)
Oil India Ltd (OIL) signed a revenue-sharing contract (RSC) on October 15, 2026, for the Special Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Block SRONHP-(CBM)-2026/1. The agreement marks another step in the company’s efforts to diversify its energy portfolio.
The date matches the ceremony chaired by Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri at which contracts under the government’s Special CBM bid rounds for 2025 and 2026 were signed. The 2026 round alone offered 13 blocks covering about 5,100 square km. Details such as the block’s area, work programme and investment were not part of the available disclosure, so investors will track those and the exploration timeline. The government has framed the rounds as an effort to unlock India’s unconventional hydrocarbon potential.
