Mumbai, Sept 17: Here are five stocks in focus on Thursday, from a highway toll order for Highway Infrastructure to a contract termination at G R Infraprojects to a shipbuilding tie-up for Mazagon Dock to a closed US FDA inspection at Alembic Pharmaceuticals to a large block deal in Billionbrains Garage Ventures. Here’s what’s driving each stock and what to track through the session.
Highway Infrastructure (HIL): Bags Rs 220.66 crore toll order from UPEIDA
Highway Infrastructure Ltd (HIL) has received an order worth Rs 220.66 crore from the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority. The order involves the collection of user fees and operation of toll plazas, along with the deployment of four patrol-cum-safety vehicles with the required personnel, for the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. The win adds a meaningful annuity-style revenue stream to the company’s order book in its core toll-operations business, an area that typically offers steady, contracted cash flows over the concession period.
G R Infraprojects (GRINFRA): Issues termination notice to NTPC for BESS project
G R Infraprojects Ltd (GRINFRA) has issued a notice of termination to NTPC for the engineering, procurement and construction package for a battery energy storage system implementation at NTPC’s Mouda Super Thermal Power Station. The company did not disclose the specific reasons behind the termination notice. Investors will watch for further disclosures on the financial impact, if any, and whether the contract is renegotiated, re-tendered, or formally called off, since the BESS project was a relatively new addition to the company’s traditional roads-focused order book.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MAZDOCK): Signs MoU for anchor shipyard role at Dighi cluster
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MAZDOCK) has signed a memorandum of understanding with National Shipbuilding & Heavy Industries Park Maharashtra to participate as the anchor shipyard in the proposed greenfield shipbuilding industrial cluster at Dighi, Maharashtra. The proposed shipyard envisages an annual shipbuilding capacity of at least 1.2 million gross tonnage. The tie-up positions Mazagon Dock at the centre of a large new shipbuilding hub, adding to the company’s long-term capacity expansion pipeline beyond its existing defence-focused facilities in Mumbai.
Alembic Pharmaceuticals (ALEMBICLTD): USFDA closes inspection of Vadodara facility
Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ALEMBICLTD) said the USFDA has issued an Establishment Inspection Report and closed the inspection of the company’s bioequivalence facility in Vadodara, Gujarat. The inspection was conducted from March 3 to March 7, 2025. A closed inspection with an EIR is typically viewed as a favourable regulatory outcome, removing an overhang on the facility that had been pending resolution for several months.
Billionbrains Garage Ventures (GROWW): Peak XV sells 1.46% stake for Rs 1,756.2 crore
Billionbrains Garage Ventures Ltd (GROWW) saw a large stake sale, with Peak XV Partners Investments VI-1 offloading 9.17 crore equity shares, representing a 1.46 per cent stake in the company, for Rs 1,756.2 crore at Rs 191.49 apiece. The sale represents a portion of the 15.68 per cent stake Peak XV Partners holds in Groww’s parent company. The transaction marks continued partial exit by an early institutional investor, even as its overall holding in the company remains sizeable following the sale.
Broader Read
Thursday’s triggers span a highway toll order for Highway Infrastructure, a contract termination notice at G R Infraprojects, a shipbuilding partnership for Mazagon Dock, a closed USFDA inspection for Alembic Pharmaceuticals, and a large block deal in Billionbrains Garage Ventures, a mix of company-specific developments for investors to weigh even as the broader market stays cautious. The Sensex gained 332.63 points, or 0.45 per cent, to close at 74,336.45 on Wednesday, while the Nifty advanced 99 points, or 0.43 per cent, to 23,217.60, snapping a two-session losing streak on the back of gains in banking, financial and FMCG stocks. Gift Nifty futures were last trading at 23,222.50, up 82.50 points or 0.36 per cent, pointing to a muted start on Thursday. Investors are also closely watching the Rs 22,569-crore NSE IPO, which opens for subscription today with a price band of Rs 1,700-1,785 per share, even as elevated crude prices and the US Federal Reserve’s latest rate hike keep the broader market on edge.
