Mumbai, Sept 3: Five stocks are in focus on Thursday, from Power Grid winning a large interstate transmission project to a green energy investment at India Cements, a SoftBank-backed block deal in Meesho, a fresh turnkey order for Inox Wind and a stake sale in Pine Labs. Here’s what’s driving each stock and what to track through the day.
Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID): Wins Rajasthan REZ Phase IV interstate transmission project
Power Grid Corporation of India has been declared the successful bidder for an interstate transmission project to evacuate power from Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase IV. The project entails building a 6,000 MW, plus/minus 800 kV HVDC transmission system between Barmer-II in Rajasthan and South Kalamb in Maharashtra, on a build-own-operate-transfer basis, with an approximately 1,000-km bipole line running across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The project carries quoted annual transmission charges of Rs 3,244.33 crore, after the company emerged the lowest bidder in a tariff-based e-reverse auction, and it received the formal Letter of Intent on September 2.
India Cements (INDIACEM): To acquire 26% stake in Amplus TN One Energy for up to Rs 14.06 crore
India Cements has agreed to acquire a 26 per cent stake in Amplus TN One Energy, a special-purpose vehicle set up to supply renewable power to four of the cement maker’s manufacturing units in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, for a consideration of up to Rs 14.06 crore. The deal will be executed through a power purchase agreement along with a share subscription and shareholders’ agreement, and is expected to be completed within 180 days. The investment is aimed at meeting the company’s green energy requirements, optimising energy costs, and complying with captive power consumption regulations.
Meesho (MEESHO): SoftBank arm to sell 1.5% stake via block deal
SoftBank Group Corp’s affiliate SVF II Meerkat (DE) LLC is offering to sell 70 million shares, or a 1.5 per cent stake, in Meesho through a block deal on Thursday, according to a Mint report. The floor price for the shares has been set at Rs 205 apiece, a 3.1 per cent discount to Meesho’s closing price of Rs 211.60 on the NSE on September 2. The Vidit Aatrey-led e-commerce platform has seen a string of block deals from early institutional backers paring their holdings since its stock market debut.
Inox Wind (INOXWIND): Bags Rs 755-crore turnkey order from Indian Oil
Inox Wind has secured a 100 MW turnkey wind project order from Indian Oil Corporation valued at approximately Rs 755 crore, with the accompanying operations and maintenance contract running for 10 years post-commissioning. The comprehensive turnkey deal adds to the company’s consolidated order book, which stood at 4.4 GW as of July 2026, and underscores growing confidence among public sector undertakings in Inox Wind’s project execution capabilities.
Pine Labs (PINELABS): Alpha Wave sells 3.07% stake worth Rs 549.92 crore
Alpha Wave Ventures II LP, the flagship global private equity fund managed by Alpha Wave Ventures GP, sold 3.54 crore shares, or a 3.07 per cent stake, in Pine Labs at Rs 155.1 apiece, a transaction worth Rs 549.92 crore. The shares were picked up by nine domestic and global investors, including ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Societe Generale, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Goldman Sachs Investments Mauritius, Viridian Asia Opportunities Master Fund, Integrated Core Strategies (Asia), JM Financial Mutual Fund, Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore and Norges Bank, the last on account of the Government Pension Fund Global. The stake sale is the latest in a series of exits by early institutional backers since the fintech company’s stock market listing in November 2025.
Broader Read
Thursday’s triggers span a large HVDC transmission project win for Power Grid, a green energy investment at India Cements aimed at its southern plants, a SoftBank-backed block deal in Meesho, another order win for Inox Wind from a large public sector client, and a stake sale in Pine Labs by an early institutional investor, a mix of company-specific developments for investors to weigh even as the broader market tracks Gift Nifty cues and the ongoing Iran-US conflict.
