Mumbai, June 3, 2025: Tata Communications Ltd. (NSE: TATACOMM, BSE: 500483) today announced the integration of TGN-IA2, a new high-capacity submarine cable system, into its global network. The system is built by the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) consortium and is set to enhance the company’s connectivity capabilities across Asia and key global markets.

A Strategic Leap in Network Infrastructure

The newly launched TGN-IA2 system is integrated to offer scalable bandwidth and low-latency connectivity for enterprises, hyperscalers, and service providers. Tata has integrated this cable with its existing TGN-IA (Tata Global Network Intra-Asia) infrastructure, ensuring enhanced route diversity, improved redundancy, and seamless data movement across Asia, the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India.

Unlike traditional consortium-operated cable systems, TGN-IA2 enables Tata Communications to independently manage capacity upgrades, allowing for faster provisioning and improved customer support.

Key Benefits for Enterprises

The new cable will help businesses across data-intensive sectors such as financial services, e-commerce, logistics, and media by:

  • Reduced latency, enhancing streaming quality and application responsiveness
  • Stronger redundancy and reliability, ensuring business continuity
  • Wider regional reach, connecting hubs in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and beyond
  • Future-readiness for next-gen applications like AI and cloud workloads

Executive Insight

Genius Wong, Executive VP – Core and Next-Gen Connectivity Services and CTO at Tata Communications, emphasised the importance of this infrastructure investment:

“Whether you’re a cloud provider expanding into Asia, an MNC seeking low-latency connectivity across continents, or a digital business scaling globally, TGN-IA2 is a foundation for your future. This latest enhancement to our network fabric will further strengthen Tata Communications’ position as a global leader in smart, secure, and scalable connectivity and cross-border innovation.”

Geographic Coverage and Infrastructure

TGN-IA2 spans critical Asian hubs including Toyohashi (Japan), Hong Kong (Mega-I and Mega Plus), and Singapore (Global Switch and Equinix SG5). This regional span is designed to support direct, high-speed access between business centres in East and Southeast Asia.
