Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors Ltd., said:

“Q1 FY26 began on a subdued note for the commercial vehicle industry with muted performance in HCV and SCVPU segments. However, ILMCV and Passenger Carriers recorded modest growth. Our international CV business delivered a strong 67.9% YoY growth, supported by new market entries such as Egypt and enhanced offerings in the MENA region.”

Tata Motors also launched the Ace Pro, India’s most affordable mini-truck, available in petrol, bi-fuel, and EV variants, which has received positive market feedback. The company has also introduced air-conditioned cabins across its light to heavy trucks lineup to improve driver comfort.

Passenger Vehicle Division

Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., noted:

“Despite industry-wide volume pressures, the EV segment emerged as a bright spot, with strong momentum in June and robust consumer interest. New launches like the Altroz and Harrier.ev have received positive market responses, with greater traction expected in the upcoming quarters.”

Tata’s refreshed Tiago recorded 16% YoY growth in Q1 FY26, highlighting the company’s product-led growth strategy in the hatchback and SUV segments.

Strategic Outlook

The company expects tailwinds in the coming quarters from:

  • Anticipated normal monsoon
  • Potential repo rate reduction
  • Renewed focus on infrastructure development

Management reaffirmed its commitment to its demand-pull strategy, new product innovation, and customer engagement to navigate the challenging macro environment and regain volume momentum.
