Mumbai, 3 July 2025: Shares of Tata Power Company Ltd (NSE: TATAPOWER, BSE: 500400) declined by 2% to ₹398.50 during early trade on July 3, following the announcement of a significant arbitration award against the company. The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) ruled partially in favour of Kleros Capital Partners Ltd, prompting a swift reaction in the stock market.
Arbitration Ruling Leads to Immediate Market Response
On 2 July 2025, Tata Power informed stock exchanges under Regulation 30 of SEBI LODR that SIAC had awarded USD 490.32 million in damages to Kleros Capital, along with 5.33% simple interest calculated from 30 November 2020. Additionally, the company has been ordered to pay USD 8.29 million in legal costs, also accruing interest at the same rate starting 1 July 2025.
The company confirmed that the arbitration award was received after market hours on 1 July and stated that it is currently reviewing the verdict and exploring legal options, including the possibility of a challenge.

The arbitration update led to a decline of ₹8.15 from the previous day’s close of ₹406.65, bringing the stock down to ₹398.50 as of 9:38 AM IST on 3 July 2025.
