Mumbai, June 19: Tata Power Co. Ltd. said on Friday that it has received a letter of intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL) for the acquisition of Rapyte Power Transmission Ltd., a special purpose vehicle (SPV) created for a transmission infrastructure project in Karnataka.

According to an exchange filing, the project SPV will be developed on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis and will provide transmission services for 35 years from the scheduled commercial operation date (SCOD). The SCOD has been fixed at 30 months from the date of SPV transfer.

The project involves the construction and commissioning of around 250 kilometres of transmission lines, including 400 kV and 220 kV double-circuit lines as well as underground cable infrastructure. The scope also includes the establishment of a 5×500 MVA, 400/220 kV substation at Ryapte in Tumakuru district and a 3×500 MVA, 400/220 kV GIS substation at Doddathaggalli near Hoskote.

As per the filing, the project has been awarded through tariff-based competitive bidding, with annual transmission charges of ₹521.07 crore.

Stock Market Snapshot

Transmission projects are generally viewed as stable infrastructure assets because they generate regulated revenue over extended concession periods once operational.
