Mumbai, April 28: Several stocks on the Nifty 50 closed in positive territory on Tuesday, with energy and infrastructure names leading the charge while select consumer and technology stocks provided support. The session offered a cautious note of optimism on an otherwise mixed trading day. The following are the top seven gainers of the day

ONGC

ONGC was Tuesday’s standout performer, closing at ₹302.00 — up 5.63% from its previous close of ₹285.90. The stock opened at ₹286.25, barely above its session low of ₹286.00, before staging a sharp intraday rally to touch a high of ₹302.40. The move drew significant participation, with volumes crossing 5.15 crore shares worth over ₹1,531 crore, making it one of the most actively traded stocks on the index. The day’s gains reflect continued investor interest in upstream energy plays amid elevated global crude prices.

Gainer 11

Adani Enterprises

Adani Enterprises closed at ₹2,415.00, gaining 4.01% from its previous close of ₹2,321.80. The stock opened at ₹2,321.80 and climbed steadily through the session, touching a high of ₹2,420.00 against a low of ₹2,320.90. The near-₹100 intraday range signals strong directional conviction from buyers, with volumes of 43.75 lakh shares changing hands worth over ₹1,045 crore.

Gainer 2

Coal India

Coal India added 3.29%, closing at ₹467.40 against a previous close of ₹452.50. Opening at ₹456.20 — which also marked the session low — the stock advanced steadily to a high of ₹473.90. The PSU miner attracted robust trading interest with 2.67 crore shares traded, valued at approximately ₹1,252 crore.

Gainer 3

Reliance Industries

Reliance Industries closed at ₹1,393.00, up 1.99% from ₹1,365.80. The stock opened at ₹1,358.00, touching a low of ₹1,357.00 before recovering to a session high of ₹1,395.20. At over 4.10 crore shares traded worth ₹5,663 crore, Reliance was the session’s highest-value trade among the gainers — a reminder of its outsized weight in the index.

Gainer 4
Nestle India

Nestle India gained 1.71%, ending at ₹1,441.60 compared to a previous close of ₹1,417.30. The consumer staples major opened at ₹1,417.90, dipped to a low of ₹1,401.00 early in the session before recovering firmly to a high of ₹1,445.10. The ₹44 intraday swing on a defensive FMCG stock is noteworthy, suggesting active institutional participation.

Gainer 5
