Mumbai, August 12: Vodafone Idea, Ardee Industries, PC Jeweller and Tenneco Clean Air India were among the stocks that witnessed most trading activity on the NSE on Wednesday. Vodafone Idea led the pack after gaining on renewed optimism around its three-year growth strategy and 45,000-crore network investment plan, while newly listed Ardee Industries attracted strong interest following a stellar market debut. PC Jeweller and Tenneco Clean Air India, meanwhile, saw heightened activity amid profit booking and a large block deal, respectively. Here are the stocks that featured among the most actively traded counters by volume on the NSE.

Vodafone Idea Limited (up 3.72%)

Shares of Vodafone Idea jumped on Wednesday after the telecom operator reaffirmed its three-year growth targets and outlined plans to invest 45,000 crore in network expansion, boosting investor confidence in its turnaround strategy. The company aims to deliver double-digit revenue growth and triple its cash EBITDA over the next three years, while continuing efforts to secure funding from lenders.

Vodafone Idea CEO Abhijit Kishore said the company remains confident of executing its three-year roadmap, supported by continued backing from promoters and ongoing discussions with lenders. The telecom operator is targeting double-digit revenue growth and a threefold increase in cash EBITDA as it seeks to strengthen its financial position and regain market share.

The company is pursuing funding from public and private sector banks as well as foreign lenders and has already raised a 6,400 crore tranche. Vodafone Idea has also placed network equipment orders worth around 9,000 crore, with execution expected over the next two quarters or less.

As part of the planned network investment, Vodafone Idea intends to deploy around 3,500 4G sites every month. The company expects to complete its 4G rollout across 17 key circles within around 18 months and expand 5G services to more than 200 additional cities over the next two quarters.

The aggressive network expansion is central to Vodafone Idea’s efforts to improve service quality, retain existing subscribers and attract new users as competition in India’s telecom market intensifies.

The latest management commentary comes after Vodafone Idea reported a narrower first-quarter loss on Monday, helped by an increase in average revenue per user. The company remains India’s third-largest telecom operator and is attempting to recover from years of financial stress that resulted in the government becoming its largest shareholder.

The combination of improving operating metrics, fresh funding and a sizeable network investment programme has strengthened expectations that Vodafone Idea could make further progress on its turnaround. Investors, however, will continue to monitor the company’s ability to raise the capital required for the expansion and translate network investments into sustained subscriber and revenue growth.

Ardee Industries (up 28.58% w.r.t Issue Price)

Ardee Industries shares made a strong debut on the domestic bourses on Wednesday, listing at a premium of nearly 39% over the IPO price after the 425.87-crore issue drew overwhelming demand from investors. The stock opened at 73.60 on the BSE, a 38.87% premium over its issue price of 53, while it debuted at 72 on the NSE, marking a 35.85% gain.

The stock’s strong opening reflected the exceptionally high demand for the public issue, which was subscribed 133.66 times overall during the August 5-7 bidding period.

The qualified institutional buyers’ portion was subscribed 197.77 times, while the non-institutional investor category saw subscription of 255.24 times. The retail portion was subscribed 45.71 times, highlighting broad-based demand across investor categories.

Ardee Industries plans to use 220 crore from the fresh issue to meet its working capital requirements and 20 crore towards repayment or prepayment of borrowings.

Founded in 1993, Ardee Industries is engaged in the recovery and recycling of end-of-life energy storage products and non-ferrous scrap. It manufactures high-purity lead and specialised lead alloys used across the energy storage, electric mobility, automotive and chemical industries.

The sharp debut puts the stock firmly in focus as investors assess whether Ardee Industries can sustain its listing gains after the strong IPO demand. The stock’s performance through the trading session will also determine whether the initial premium holds or gives way to profit-taking following the strong opening.

PC Jeweller Limited (down 1.71%)

Shares of PC Jeweller came under profit booking on Wednesday after gaining in the previous session following the jewellery retailer’s strong June 2026 quarter performance. The company reported a 37% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to 222 crore, while revenue from operations rose 21% to 877 crore from 725 crore in the year-ago period.

The company’s operating performance also improved sharply, with consolidated operating profit after tax, excluding other income, jumping 168% year-on-year to 213 crore from 79 crore in Q1 FY26. The significant expansion in operating profitability strengthened investor sentiment and supported the stock’s recent gains.

Progress on deleveraging remains another major positive for PC Jeweller. The company has fully repaid its outstanding debt to seven of its 14 consortium banks, with the repayments completed ahead of schedule. Overall, it has now cleared more than 96% of its outstanding debt.

PC Jeweller has said it remains on track to become debt-free during the ongoing quarter. Completing the deleveraging process would further strengthen its balance sheet, lower finance costs and provide greater flexibility to fund future expansion. The company also completed a 2,702.11-crore preferential issue of fully convertible warrants during the June quarter, with 93% of the proceeds already realised.

The company has further capital-raising plans in the pipeline. Its board approved a proposal in July to raise up to 1,000 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals. The proposed fundraise is expected to provide additional financial flexibility and support the company’s expansion plans.

Institutional interest in the stock has also strengthened. Foreign institutional investor holding in PC Jeweller increased to 12.15% in the June 2026 quarter from 10.40% in the previous quarter. The combination of stronger earnings, improving operating margins, rapid debt reduction and the proposed QIP has strengthened the investment case around the stock.

With shares now witnessing some profit booking after their recent gains, investors will closely track whether PC Jeweller can sustain the improvement in operating profitability and complete its debt-free target in the coming quarter.

Tenneco Clean Air India Limited (down 1.24%)

Shares of Tenneco Clean Air India came under pressure on Wednesday after a large block deal in the stock. The block transaction involved around 3.2 crore shares, equivalent to an 8% stake in Tenneco Clean Air India, changing hands in the deal.
