Mumbai, October 19: PC Jeweller, Vodafone Idea, Yes Bank and Punjab National Bank (PNB) were the most traded stocks by volume on the NSE on Monday, October 19, as company-specific developments drove activity. PC Jeweller surged 13.76% after Cupid chief Aditya Kumar Halwasiya bought a stake in the company, while PNB gained 4.81% after reporting better-than-expected Q2 earnings. Vodafone Idea slipped 1.03% amid ongoing concerns over its financial position despite appointing a new COO, while Yes Bank fell 1.66% as investors weighed profit growth against the potential impact of the Supreme Court’s AT1 bond ruling.
PC Jeweller Limited (up 13.76%)
Shares of PC Jeweller surged on Monday, October 19, extending their rally over two trading sessions after Aditya Kumar Halwasiya, chairman and managing director of Cupid, acquired a stake in the jewellery retailer through a bulk deal. The buying interest comes as PC Jeweller completes its transition to a debt-free company, while investors also track its September-quarter business update and upcoming earnings announcement.
The sharp gains followed a purchase of 5.10 crore PC Jeweller shares by Halwasiya for approximately Rs 73.59 crore. The transaction was executed at an average price of Rs 14.43 per share.
The bulk deal has drawn attention to PC Jeweller as the company seeks to strengthen its financial position following the clearance of outstanding dues to all 14 banks in its lending consortium. The company has said it has eliminated approximately Rs 3,000 crore in bank debt, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to improve its balance sheet.
PC Jeweller has also reported encouraging business developments ahead of its September-quarter results. The company said its revenue grew approximately 28% year-on-year in the second quarter of FY27, supported by healthy demand. It also received remittances of around Rs 142 crore during the quarter from outstanding export receivables, providing additional cash inflows.
The company had earlier raised up to Rs 500 crore through a preferential issue of equity shares and warrants, with the fundraising completed in September. Investors will now watch whether the improvement in the company’s financial position and business performance can support a sustained recovery in its stock.
PC Jeweller’s rally also comes amid heightened interest in jewellery stocks ahead of the festive and wedding seasons, traditionally important periods for the sector. However, the latest surge follows a sharp price move over a short period, making the sustainability of the gains an important consideration for investors.
The company’s upcoming quarterly results will provide further insight into revenue growth, profitability, cash flows and the impact of its debt reduction. While the bulk deal and debt-free milestone have improved investor attention towards the stock, its future performance will depend on financial results, business execution and broader market conditions.
Vodafone Idea Limited (down 1.03%)
Shares of Vodafone Idea remained under pressure amid continuing concerns over the telecom operator’s financial position and competitive challenges, even as the company strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Manoj Murali as chief operating officer (COO), effective October 19. Murali’s appointment comes at a critical juncture for the debt-laden telecom operator, which is working to improve its operational performance, retain subscribers and strengthen its competitive position against larger rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.
Murali brings more than 25 years of experience in the telecom and mobility sectors, having previously worked at Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel before serving as chief business officer at Ola Electric. His experience spans sales, marketing, distribution, network operations and customer experience.
The leadership change comes as Vodafone Idea continues to navigate significant financial and operational challenges. The company needs to strengthen its business performance while competing against rivals that have greater financial resources and are investing heavily in network infrastructure. Subscriber retention, revenue growth and the ability to fund capital expenditure remain key factors for investors tracking the stock.
Vodafone Idea has shown some improvement in subscriber additions, with the company adding around 5.06 lakh mobile users in August to take its subscriber base to 19.96 crore. However, sustained improvements in customer retention, average revenue per user (ARPU) and cash generation will be crucial to strengthening its financial position.
Investors will watch whether Murali’s appointment translates into measurable improvements in business execution and operational efficiency. While his industry experience could support the company’s efforts to improve performance, the stock’s direction will also depend on financial developments, funding requirements, competitive pressures and broader market sentiment.

Yes Bank Limited (down 1.66%)
Shares of YES Bank reversed early gains to fall on Monday, October 19, as investors weighed stronger-than-expected September-quarter earnings against the potential financial fallout from the Supreme Court’s ruling that set aside the lender’s 2020 write-off ofRs 8,400 crore additional tier-1 (AT1) bonds. The lender reported a 65% year-on-year jump in net profit for the September quarter, but concerns over the hit from the verdict continued to cloud the outlook. YES Bank said accounting for the Supreme Court verdict would have pushed it into a Rs 5,217-crore loss for the quarter ended September.
Punjab National Bank (up 4.81%)
Shares of Punjab National Bank (PNB) surged on Monday, October 19 after the state-owned lender reported better-than-expected September-quarter earnings. The rally prompted brokerages to raise their price targets, citing stronger net interest income, expanding margins and improving asset quality. PNB reported a 13% year-on-year increase in net profit to Rs 5,532 crore for Q2 FY27, while net interest income rose around 11% to Rs 11,601 crore. The bank’s gross non-performing asset ratio improved by 90 basis points to 2.55%, reinforcing investor confidence in its earnings outlook.
