VA Tech WABAG Secures UAE Sewage Plant Contract; Shares Gain 1.55%

VA Tech WABAG secured a “Large” international order for the Ajman Sewage Biorefinery Plant in the UAE, supporting its GCC expansion strategy.

Mumbai, June 9: VA Tech WABAG has secured a “Large” international order for the proposed Ajman Sewage Biorefinery Plant Phase 3 in the United Arab Emirates from Ajman Sewerage (Private) Company Limited.
The company said the project has been awarded under a consortium arrangement, with WABAG acting as the consortium leader. The contract covers the design, engineering, procurement and construction of a 60 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant along with associated inlet works, primary and secondary treatment systems, sludge management facilities and power generation systems.
According to the company, the project also includes odour control systems and disc filters to ensure compliance with guaranteed treated effluent quality standards. The facility will deploy advanced biological and mechanical treatment technologies based on Activated Sludge Process (ASP) and tertiary treatment through disc filtration systems.
As per the exchange filing, the project is scheduled to be completed within 24 months. The order has been classified by the company as a “Large” contract.

GCC Expansion Continues to Strengthen
The company described the contract as a strategic entry into the UAE market and said the project reinforces its positioning in the regional wastewater management sector.
Commenting on the development, Rohan Mittal, Head of Strategy and Business Growth for GCC at WABAG, said the project marks an important milestone in the company’s Middle East growth plans.
He added that the UAE’s increasing focus on water security, sustainability and infrastructure resilience presents long-term opportunities for advanced water treatment companies.
WABAG currently operates across multiple global markets and provides water technology and wastewater treatment solutions for both municipal and industrial applications. The company said it has designed and built more than 1,500 water and wastewater treatment plants globally.
Project Adds to International Execution Pipeline
The Ajman Sewage Biorefinery Plant project is expected to strengthen WABAG’s international order pipeline and expand its operational footprint across the GCC region.
The company said the contract aligns with its long-term strategy of pursuing sustainable water infrastructure opportunities in high-growth international markets. The filing also clarified that neither promoters nor promoter group entities have any interest in the awarding company and the transaction does not fall under related party transactions.
