New Delhi, September 4, 2025 –VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), the joint venture company of Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jio-bp pulse to increase charging access of electric trucks and buses in India.
Countrywide Charging Access
The partnership will provide Eicher electric bus and truck customers with Jio-bp’s more than 6,000 charging points, the largest DC fast-charging network in India, as claimed. The charging points span national highways, city routes, and special EV hubs designed to serve commercial fleets.
First-of-its-Kind Digital Integration
The association will also see Jio-bp’s charging network enabled within the My Eicher fleet management app, allowing operators to have real-time visibility of charger availability. Analysts note that digital integration addresses one of the fleet electrification challenges — availability of charging points in a consistent manner — and even enables the operator to optimize routes and improve asset utilization.
Industry Leaders Speak
Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VECV said the integration “removes a major barrier to EV adoption by giving our customers access to high-power charging wherever their fleets are based.”
Sarthak Behuria, Chairman of Jio-bp, termed the deal “an important step towards creating India’s clean mobility future.”
Future Expansion Plans
The companies announced that they would extend cooperation to depot-scale charging options as well as customized infrastructure for major fleet operators and bus companies, with more deals to come.
Market Context
Industry observers point out that widespread commercial adoption of EVs in India has been hindered by lack of charging infrastructure. By bringing together Jio-bp’s charging network and VECV’s growing fleet of electric buses and trucks, the partnership will build confidence among fleet operators and accelerate penetration of EVs in the commercial mobility space.
