Mumbai, June 1: Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd said production of Weak Nitric Acid (WNA), an intermediate product in its Technical Ammonium Nitrate project, has commenced at the company’s existing manufacturing site at Gadepan in Rajasthan.

The company disclosed the development in an exchange filing on Monday, under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

According to the filing, the project involves setting up facilities for manufacturing Technical Ammonium Nitrate, including a plant for producing Weak Nitric Acid. The company stated that while Weak Nitric Acid production has begun, production of Ammonium Nitrate Solution (ANS) and prilled High Density Ammonium Nitrate (HDAN) will commence in due course.

The development marks a significant milestone in the execution of the project, which the company has been updating investors on through a series of disclosures since April 2023.

Technical Ammonium Nitrate is used primarily in mining, infrastructure and industrial blasting applications. The commencement of Weak Nitric Acid production represents the first operational stage of Chambal Fertilisers’ planned entry into this value chain.

The company indicated that downstream production units for Ammonium Nitrite Solution and High Density Ammonium Nitrate are expected to become operational subsequently, completing the integrated project.

The project is located at the company’s existing Gadepan manufacturing complex in Kota district, Rajasthan, enabling it to leverage established infrastructure and operational capabilities.
