Mumbai, October 16, 2025 – Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (NSE: ZEEL, BSE: 505537) reported a steep fall in profitability for the second quarter ended September 30, 2025, with consolidated net profit sliding 63% year-on-year to ₹765 million from ₹2,095 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

Total income for the quarter stood at ₹19,956 million, compared to ₹20,344 million a year earlier. Sequentially, income improved from ₹18,498 million in Q1 FY26, reflecting a recovery in operational revenues.

Consolidated Financial Performance (₹ in million)

For the quarter ended September 30, 2025, Zee Entertainment reported revenue from operations of ₹19,692 million, up from ₹18,248 million in Q1 FY26 and slightly higher than ₹19,007 million in Q2 FY25. Other income stood at ₹264 million, compared to ₹250 million in the previous quarter and ₹1,337 million a year ago. This brought total income for the quarter to ₹19,956 million, versus ₹18,498 million in Q1 FY26 and ₹20,344 million in Q2 FY25.

Total expenses rose to ₹18,803 million, up from ₹16,527 million in Q1 FY26 and ₹17,590 million in Q2 FY25. As a result, profit before tax declined to ₹1,154 million from ₹1,972 million in the previous quarter and ₹2,864 million a year ago. Net profit for Q2 FY26 came in at ₹765 million, compared to ₹1,437 million in Q1 FY26 and ₹2,095 million in Q2 FY25. The company reported a total comprehensive income of ₹1,277 million and earnings per share (EPS) of ₹0.79, down from ₹1.50 in Q1 FY26 and ₹2.18 in Q2 FY25.

Half-Year Ended September 30, 2025

For the half year ended September 30, 2025, Zee Entertainment reported total income of ₹38,454 million, down from ₹41,839 million in H1 FY25. Total expenses increased to ₹35,330 million compared to ₹37,001 million a year ago, reflecting higher operational and promotional costs. Consequently, net profit for the half year declined to ₹3,275 million, from ₹4,663 million in H1 FY25. Earnings per share (EPS) for the period stood at ₹3.41, down from ₹4.86 in the same period last year.

Revenue Mix

  • Advertising revenue: ₹8,063 million (down from ₹9,017 million YoY)
  • Subscription revenue: ₹10,230 million (up from ₹9,699 million YoY)
  • Other sales and services: ₹1,399 million (up from ₹1,291 million YoY)

While subscription revenue improved marginally, ad revenue continued to face macro pressures, weighing on overall top-line growth.

Expenses Overview

Operational costs rose to ₹10,780 million (₹10,615 million in Q2 FY25), while advertisement and publicity expenses increased to ₹1,615 million (₹1,314 million). Employee benefits expense stood at ₹2,142 million, marginally below last year’s ₹2,275 million.
